Class 1 Blue BlogSwimming in the Sea of Learning

1 Blue – Science week – Monday

1 Blue have had a great Monday and a great start to Science Week! This week we are learning all about SPACE!

We were so lucky to have a visit from Mad Science. During the assembly DNA Dan showed us lots of exciting Science Experiments. In the afternoon we had a special workshop with DNA Dan where we explored explosions. We used some different chemicals to make a balloon inflate (Don’t worry mum’s and dad’s the chemicals we used were 100% safe! ;-))

We have also been learning about the different planets in our solar system. Our very own Scientist Nihit had a lot to tell us about the Planets and the Dwarf Planets including Nihit’s favourite Dwarf Planet called MakeMake!

We looked at the Planet – The Sun and used our knowledge of light and dark to explore shadows. We did this in our classroom using torches and by making our own alien shadow puppets. What can you tell me about making shadows?

Monday’s questions…

How many planets can you name?

Can you order the planets?

Which Dwarf planet has the most moons?

When is MakeMake’s birthday?

Can you do your own research at home to find out about your favourite planet in our Solar System?
