4W science week- Day 1!

We had a fantastic first day celebrating British Science Week! We began the day by attending an exciting Science assembly! It was full of cool explosions and exciting experiments! In year 4 we are focusing on our environment. We looked at the book 'Where's the elephant?' and explored the imagery, meanings and important messages behind the story. Also, in class we made rain gauges to measure rainfall over the week and a mini Eco-system that we will be observing everyday. Finally, we ended the day by visiting 'Jupiter Jade' in the Science pod. She taught us how to make exploding volcanoes using vinegar and baking soda! We really enjoyed this experience!

  1. Our first experiment was when we put a powder in the balloon and we had veniger In the blue pot.Then we put the balloon on the pot and the balloon started to fill with air.

  2. In science week we learnt about deforestation and the environment.
    In our first experiment we put sodium carbonate and vinegar and water and then we put a ballon on top of the glass.
    In our second experiment we had a straw with sodium carbonate and put vinegar in the tube and put the lid on top and we were holding it for three sec and it went flying.

In science week we learnt about deforestation and the environment.In our first experiment we put sodium carbonate,vinegar and water together then we put a balloon on top of the glass the ballon blew up..In our second experiment we had a straw filled sodium carbonate and put vinegar in a test tube then quickly put our straw in the test tube then quickly put a lid on and it went flying.

  4. In science week we learnt about deforestation and the environment . my favorite thing we did today is go to the mad science assembley and try the experiments.
