Welcome back to Reading Gladiators, Year 2.

This week we used expression, role play, retrieval skills and gave our opinions based on the text we had read.
This week the Reading Gladiators used expression….they acted out an exchange, slipping into the role of each character and using intonation as they read the book. They participated in role play in pairs, thinking of questions to ask possible suspects and assuming the role of detectives. Because they we able to express the thoughts and feelings of a character, this enabled them to form opinions. Watch this short video to see how they got on…….

    Task 1
    I have read chapter four.
    Task 2
We know that Mrs Pritchett is being kind and lovely to Erica. We know that she knows a lot about ants most like Oliver.
    Task 3
I notice that Mrs Pritchett is thinking that the elephant is hurt and how she can help.
Erica is thinking that she did not know this woman and that she was suspicious. Erica was thinking it might be Mrs Pritchett.
I think that the elephant is feeling sad because he got hurt and nobody is curing him.

    Task 1:
    I have read chapter 4.

    Task 2:
We also know that deep down Miss Pritchett still has a kind heart, (well mostly.) She also knows a lot about ants, (unlike Oliver,) he knows a lot about animals, not insects.

    Task 3:
I notice that Miss Pritchett looks kind and she’s probably thinking “The elephant is hurt. This is a serious problem! I should be kind. Should I?”
I notice the elephant is feeling and looking scared of the ants.
I notice Erica is feeling shocked. “ Why is she being kind to us? Wasn’t she angry at me for parading the elephant around?”
    Next page:
    Erica was feeling foolish.
Miss Pritchett was feeling shocked that she did not notice that the elephant had hurt his knee in the first place and misunderstood.
The elephant was feeling confused for being in this new place. If you were the elephant, would you feel confused? He also felt scared and sad because Amy Avis was going to take him away, in the afternoon!
Also if he acted angry and dangerous they will sedatate him!

      Mistakes:
After (also) near the end, I meant to put a comma there.
      Spellings:
      Sedate.

Task 1: Miss Prechlett keeps ants and she was trying to take care of Erica’s Elephant, sometimes but Miss Prechlett doesn’t like it when Erica Praids the elephant.

Task 2: I noticed was Miss Prechlett was a little rude but sometimes nice to Erica and Miss Prechlett was sometimes prickly too, but she was not that nice in the story.

      Great work, Nma.
