Wow! What a fantastic well-being day we have had in Year 4.
Well-being is an important part of our everyday lives. Well-being helps us to build our resilience, develop our physical well-being and improve our health.
The 5 ways to well-being are:
– Be aware of your surroundings and reflect on what you are feeling.
– Connect by building and maintaining positive relationships with others. Sharing positivity and being supportive will help increase confidence.
– Giving to others and being helpful.
– Keep on learning by setting challenges and learning new skills.
– Being active by getting regular exercise. Take part in an activity that you enjoy to increase your energy levels.
Mindfulness also helps our happiness, mindfulness, positive thinking and resilience skills.
Children have had so much fun participating in a range of activities, using skills and values such as teamwork, listening, sharing knowledge, communication, kindness, tenacity, respect, honesty, empathy and resilience. Take a look at Year 4’s well-being day fun below:
Active Maths:
Children worked in teams to learn how to divide a one and two digit number by 10 and 100. We used counters and jottings on the playground with challenge. Children demonstrated great teamwork, knowledge and resilience skills. Finally they took part in a relay race to develop physical skills and competition.
What happens when you divide numbers by 10 and 100? What are the digits worth in these numbers? 11.2, 3.9, 4.8, 24.8?
Golf:
We took part in a mini golf course. To begin with, children used basic skills and techniques such as developing grip and maintaining the correct posture. This helped to improve our precision skills, as we practiced our golf skills. Children worked in small groups to complete a mini golf obstacle course, using values such as communication, respect, tenacity and teamwork.
Football:
Students took advantage of the great space to play football on the all weather pitch. They were focusing on controlling the ball when it came to them, as well as using the 3 D’s of passing; Direction – make sure the pass is going closer to the goal, Distance – are our players close enough to pass to, Defenders – is the player you are passing to in space or close to defenders.
Positive Characteristics:
We played a guessing game in which we had to wear a ‘hat’ with the name of a known character on it and others described their characteristics for us to guess who we were. We also explored ‘what makes us great’ and how we all have positive characteristics.
Cooking:
We had great fun making strawberry meringue kisses!
We hope you have had lots of fun, working together as a team and learning lots of new skills. Well done Year 4 for your hard work, efforts and contribution. 😃
