Yesterday, you were learning about the eat-well plate. Today you will be building on this learning to plan your own healthy Sandwich. On Friday your learning will be to help your grown-ups to make the sandwich, so speak with your grown-ups about what sort of food you could prepare together.

Today, discuss with your grown-ups what food you could prepare together tomorrow. Here are some key questions to consider.

  • What parts of the sandwich are healthy?
  • What sections of the Eatwell plate are included in the sandwich?
  • What ingredients would you need for the sandwich?
  • What safety concerns might you need to keep in mind to stay safe when preparing the sandwich?

Think carefully of what type of bread you might want to use. Here are some ideas!

Next you need to think about your filling!

Your final decision will be if it is a hot or cold sandwich. Will it need cooking?

Create a drawing of your sandwich and include a list of the ingredients. Try and include a note about which section of the Eat-well plate each ingredient would be in.

    Cheese and margarine are dairy
    Bread is carbohydrates
    Cucumber is fruit and veg

    I need to be care full when using the knife and make sure not to hurt myself.

  3. My healthy sandwich
    Ingredients;
    White bread (I know brown bread is healthy but I like white bread)
    egg
    tomato
    cucumber
    chicken
    some cheese
    My sandwich will be really yummy and healthy because there is no junk in my plate.

  4. 1. I will make a cheese sandwich and the healthy part of the sandwich will be the whole meal bread , cheese and the vegetables parts because they have fibres , proteins , calcium , carbohydrates , vitamins and minerals.
    2.All sections of the Eat well plate can be included in the sandwich.
    3.I will need cheese , bread , mayonnaise , butter , lettuce and cucumbers.
    4.I need to be careful when I am using the knife and the grater.

  5. I am going to use baguettes to make my sandwich. I am going to make adult size and children size. I am going to use butter, lettuce,tomatoe,spring onion,chicken and for the children sandwich I am going to use cheese.

    This is a healthy sandwich because it includes dairy, protein and vegetables. Brown bread is more healthier then white because it gives you more fibre but I don’t like it 😀.

    I think this is a healthy sandwich because it has got stuff from the eat well plate and it is from the vegetable side that’s why it is a healthy sandwich.

    Carbohydrates=bread
    Fats=butter
    Dairy=cheese and mayonnaise
    The ingredients I need are bread, butter, cheese and mayonnaise.
    You need to be careful using a knife because you might cut yourself.
    I will draw it and label it.

    4. Turkey breast

    I have choose parts of all Eatwell plate as this will give me a balanced nurturing sandwich, some vegetables, some protein meat, some dairy product cheese, and the type bread brown all part of healthy eating plate.

    I will draw my sandwich and post it, hope you like it (halal turkey breast).
