.5 as a decimal.

2.

a)
25 small squares.
25/100
.25

b)
75 small squares
75/100
.75

2. Aamina B.

Bronze:
1)I have done this on a piece of paper and will send it on Padlet where Miss Philpotts can see it.

Silver:
1)True because both of them show 25/100 which is equivalent to 1/4.
This helps Annie because she know what 1/2 and 1/4 is so if she adds them up her total is 3/4 which is equivalent to 0.75.

Gold:
A)25/100=.25
B)75/100=3/4
C)1/4=0.25
D)3/4=0.75
E)25/100=.25
F)3/4=75/100
G)0.5=1/2
H)50=1/2

• Miss Phillpotts

Great Aamina! How would we represent 1/5 as a decimal?

Well done for sharing on the padlet page, I love to see how everybody is getting on at home! We need lots more children to visit it!

50 small squares are shaded .
50 small squares are not shaded.

1out of 4 equal groups =25 small squares.
1 out of 4 equal groups = 25 /100
1/4=25 /100=0.25.
3 out of 4 equal groups =75 small squares.
3 out of 4 equal groups =75 /100
3/4 =75/100=0.75.

1/2 = 50/100 = 5/10 We use the number of hundredths to help us write the decimal which is 0.50 0r 0.5.
How would we write 1/4 = 25/100 as a decimal?

7. I have completed this in my homework book

• Miss Phillpotts

What is 1/2 as a decimal?
What is 1/4 as a decimal?
Challenge: How could we represent 1/5 as a decimal?
Hint- convert them into hundredths first.

I have posted my maths and it doesn’t show it on the blog
I would like to know if it has been sent to you

• Mrs Raja-Khan

The comment was received and approved. Please do not worry if it is not approved immediately (although I hear that you are very eager to know).
Keep on working to the best of your ability!

Bronze
1)0.5 out of 100 squares are shaded.
0.5 out of 100 squares are not shaded.
1/2 = 50/100 = 5/10 so we write 1/2 as 0.5 decimal place.
2) 1 out of 4 equal groups = 25 small squares
1 out of 4 equal groups = 25/100
1/4 = 25/100 = 0.25
3 out of 4 equal groups = 75 small squares
3 out of 4 equal groups = 75/100
3/4 = 75/100 = 0.75
Silver
1) This statement is false because the first one shows 1 quarter but the other shows 0.25.
2) This helps Annie because she can just add 1/2 and 1/4 together to make 3/4 as a decimal place.
Gold
25/100 = 0.25
25/100 = 1/4
75/100 = 0.75
75/100 = 3/4
1/4 = 0.25
0.5 = 1/2
3/4 = 0.75
50/100 = 1/2

• Miss Phillpotts

Well done Hamaad! How could we represent 2/5 as a decimal?

12. Zaid M.

8] 3 out of 4 equal groups = 75 /100
9] 3/4 = 75/100 = 0.75.

SILVER

True because both Rekenreks equal 100 in total and a quarter of it gives you 25 and in both of them 25 are left out.

GOLD

1] 25/100 = 0.25
2] 75/100 = 0.75

SILVER
True, because they have same amount of bead rows.
This helps her because if she know’s half and quater, she
Should know 3 quarters.

• Miss Phillpotts

Great work Yahya, I like how you explained your thinking on the silver challenge.

• Mrs Diaz

Well done Yahya!

Bronze
1.a 50 out of a small squares are shaded .
50 0ut of a small squares are not shaded .

1/4 = 25 / 100 = 0. 4
3 out of equal 4 groups = 65 small squares
3 out of equal 4 groups = 65 /100
3/4 = 65/100 = 0. 4

• Miss Phillpotts

Have another look at bronze Bolu, please watch the video to help you. 3/4 does not equal 65/100, count the squares on the 100 square carefully.
1/2 = 50/100 = 5/10 We use the number of hundredths to help us write the decimal which is 0.50 0r 0.5.
How would we write 1/4 = 25/100 as a decimal?
