Please have a look at the pictures, what did you think of the music? What was different about the Beatles music to the music that we listen to today.

Kelvin said that he had collected Beatles magazines. He had 150 magazines in his collection, he collected one each month. How long did it take Kelvin to collect the magazines?

  1. 1)What did you think of the music?
I thought that the music was Amazing because it got you interested and you might quickly know the words especially the Yellow Submarine.

2)What was different about the Beatles music to the music that we listen too today?
The Beatles music was rock n roll, however now now we listen to pop music.

3)Kelvin said that he had collected Beatles magazines. He had 150 in his collection, he collected one each month. How long did it take Kelvin to collect the ?

    150 Magazines
    001 A Month
    012 a year 12,24,36,48,60,72,84,96,108,120,132,144 and 6 Months.
    answer:12 years and 6 Months = 150 magazines.

  2. Every time I walked past, I could see happy, engaged and enthusiastic children. Thank you Kelvin for working so hard with my fabulous Year 5 children.

  3. Kelvin was really impressed with Year 5. He told me that he enjoyed singing to both classes because everyone listened and joined in sensibly and that you showed that you were also enjoying his singing by being so well behaved.
    Well done.
Can you remember the names of the songs that he sang to us and what was your favourite?
    Graham

  4. It was very good. The reason it was good was that the Beatles used different tunes.
It was different because he sang different music from the one we saw today and it was quite slow and loud.

150 divided by 12= 12 years and five month.

    I THINK THIS IS THE ANSWER. : ) :)

    • I agree about it being quite slow compared with some music today. Although it may have just sounded loud because we were so close to him… Having said this Kelvin said that in the 60s you couldn’t hear the Beatles because of the girls screaming!!!

You have used the correct method to calculate the answer, however unfortunately you may have made the mistake of calculating it on a calculator! 12 X 12 is 144… if we calculate this as months, how many more months do we need to get to 150?

  5. I thought that the music was fantastic because it got you interested. The Beatles music was rock n roll however now it is pop music.

He collected it for twelve years and six months. The calculation I did was dividing. The sum is 150 divided by 12. I knew that there were twelve months in a year so I divided them.

I enjoyed today. It was so fun!

    • Thank you Simran. Yes, the Beatles were rock n roll but the probably paved the way for many of the more recent bands. I think we can still here similar sounds in bands such as Oasis, Muse and U2.
Well done with your calculations Simran and I’m glad you enjoyed it, an extra thank you to Graham in the corridor may not go amiss for organising that!
