2 Blue Maths Challenge – Friday 15th May

Go on to Education City and you will find a challenge set in your homework!

Caterpillars – Your activity is called ‘How We Roll’ and you must add and subtract numbers to 20. Use paper to draw your jottings.

Butterflies – Your activity is called ‘Dancing Robot’. You need to fill in the missing numbers!

Bees, Ladybird & Spiders – Your activity is called ‘Calculation Station’. You will need to build the fact families correctly using the inverse!

    Lee had 8 strawberries
    The shape after applying the other shape would end up bring square shape.

    Challenge 2
    Lolly plus Chew is = 82p
    82p – 12 equal 70p
    70p ÷ 2 equals 35p
    35p + 12p equals 47p
    The Chew is 35p and the Lollipop is 47p.

    CHALLENGE 3
    12 x 5 = 60 stickers
    60 – 27 = 33 stickers
    33 ÷ 3 = 11stickers
    Max had given each of his friends 11 stickers each.

    70p ÷ 2 = 35p
    35p + 12p = 47p
    This shows that the lollipop is 47p and the chew is 35p

    70/2 = 35p
    35 + 12 = 47p lolly cost
    CHALLENGE 3
    12 x 5 = 60 stickers
    60 – 27 = 33 stickers
    33/3 = 11
    Max gave 11 stickers to each of his friends.

    • There are a few steps the question Redir.
      Subtract 12p from the total.
      Then divide (share equally) the new total between 2 (the lolly and sweet).
      Then add 12p on the the cost of one of the sweets.

    a.The lolly costs 70 pence because you have to take away 82p minus 12p
    which will give your answer 70p.
    Challenge 3:
    Max buys= 12 packs
    1 pack= 5 stickers
    Total number of stickers Max got = 12×5= 60
    Stickers left = 27
    Stickers given to Max’s friend= 60-27=33.

    • you have subtracted 12p from the total.
      You need to find out the cost of the lolly.
      Can you share 70 equally between 2. Then add 12p to find out the cost of the lolly.
      Remember the lolly is 12p MORE than the sweets.
