2 White Pirate Science Afternoon

This half term we have been learning about materials and whether they are good choices for different objects. We have carried out lots of investigations to test materials to see if they are suitable for different uses such as a tent cover, tea bags or a child’s dungarees.

To finish the unit, the children were given an independent challenge… to create a PIRATE SHIP!

We became pirates for the afternoon and worked in pairs to create our own ship. It had to float; it had to be strong and it had to be waterproof. Have a look at how we got on…

Can you tell me what you have learnt about materials this half term?
Can you tell me about the properties of different materials and what each property means?
