# 20.05.20 4B Maths

Morning year 4, today we are going to continue looking at time and reading clocks. Please can you tell me what time it is now?

Click through the slides to understand how to convert from a 12 hour clock to a 24 hour clock and then back. It is honestly really simple once you can do it.

Bronze: Using what you have learnt can you create a table to show the 24 hour time for from 12am – 11pm. Try if you can to include half past as well.

The digital clock is till 23.59 , Annie has put 22.02 so the digital clock she has is a 24 hr clock, the clock shows the time as 02.22am or 14.22pm

• Mr Carter

Great understanding.
Imagine Annie’s clock has moved on 2 hours and 15 minutes. What time will it be then cleaver boy?

• Raihaan N.

it will be 4.37am or 16.37am . Thank you Mr Carter I am a very “clever” boy.

Hahaha. Nice to have a private joke with you Raihaan. I’m sure you won’t let me forget!

Her mistake is that here clock dose not go up to 22:02 that is here mistake.

Please rethink Gold. What time does the clock show? What would that be as a digital time?

Annie has converted this wrong because she has done it the wrong way round. It should be 14.22 not 22.02 because the time is in the afternoon not the evening.

• Mr Carter

Imagine the time on Annie’s clock moves on 1 hour and 33 minutes. What time would the clock say?

The thing that Annie had done wrong is she has wrote the digital time as 10:02pm however the real time in digital time I’d 2:22 (I wasn’t sure if it was am or pm).

• Mr Carter

Which time is Annie more likely to be a wake for? 2:22am or 2:22pm?

14. Kia J.

10;00 am – wake up
10:00- 10:30 go on the blog with my sister
10:30-11:00- eat
11:00- 13;00 go on my tablet and watch tiktok

16:00-17;00- eat
17:00 – 18:00 – have a shower/ bath\
18:00-19:30 – go on the laptop and watch Netflix
19:30 – 21:00 – play with my toys then go to sleep

• Mr Carter

Thank you for this. A couple of things concern me about your day. 30 minutes is not enough time doing work. Some pupils are working lots of hours ever day.
The other thing is, TikTok is not appropriate for someone your age. We as a school have asked BH pupils not to use it. Please see this information:

Annie’s analogue clock can only go up to 11:59.
The digital clock can go up to 23:59 so the distal clock should say either 14:22 or 2:22.
