3 White- Making an Egyptian sarcophagus

In Design and technology this half term, 3 White were set the challenge of designing and constructing a sarcophagus in the style of the Ancient Egyptians.

First we researched the features of an Egyptian sarcophagus and what they were used for.

What is a sarcophagus? What were the features?

We thought about suitable materials to build from, any health and safety risks and the process.

The following week, we used our plan to make our sarcophagus. For this we used, wire, wood, modroc and clay.

Once we had built our sarcophagus, we decorated them.

See our completed sarcophagi!

  1. What did you do well?
I did well with the mod rock. Also the wire was easy because we had to twist it with 2 wire and the we then worked with our partners to make our Egyptian sarcophagus/coffin.

What would you like to improve?
I would like so improve my sarcophagus because it was a bit sturdy and a bit small.
