3 White-SOLE-creating tomato carriers

Today, We worked in groups to create a device to hold and transport cherry tomatoes.

As a class we came up with success criteria:

  • It can carry tomatoes without squashing them.
  • It can move.
  • It is stable- it doesn’t break.

Children worked extremely well in teams to design and make their tomato carriers. We discuss any problems we had and found solutions. Finally we tested these on a ramp in the adventure playground.

3 White:

What problems did you encounter? How did you overcome them?

What was good about your tomato carrier?

How could you improve your design?

The problem was that the wheel was not stable so it fell off and we overcame it by adding more sellotape and it worked !
It had a roof so the tomatoes did not come out and it was a great idea ! By making it lighter so it could go down smoother!

The tomato carrier was too small.
    All the tomatoes fittted in.
By making the wheels more big.
    By Zoya and Tahseen.

I had a wheel missing so I made a cardboard one
    It travelled the farest
    By tape the end

    Yibo and Marcel
Marcel: I didn’t get any problems.
Yibo: I got a problem because when we were pushing it, the carrier’s wheel was not on properly.
Yibo: The tomatoes 🍅 didn’t fall of.
Marcel: My carrier didn’t brake and the tomatoes didn’t fall out.

1.What problems did my encounter? How did i overcome them?
Well my group didn’t have any problems at all we were just fine and we carried on our transport
2.What was good about your tomato carrier?
We had a big space of putting the tomato in.When we tested it out noting fell apart.None tomato fell out or got squashed. But our transport didn’t go the thurther though
3.How could you improve your design?
By not adding to much material

    My transport can do
.It can carry tomatoes without squashing them.
    .It can move.
.It is stable- it doesn’t break.

    1. Our problem was the reels which were the wheels , kept of coming of the wooden stick .So then my group and Mrs Street helped us ,and said you can put the reel on the wooden stick but first put tape on the sticky side .Then leave that on and next put the reel on then put tape on again like you did before then when we tried it the reels didn’ come of.

    2. The thing good about our tomato carrier was that when we put the tomato in our carrier none fell out or got squashed.

    3. We could improve my groups carrier by putting Lego wheels on or wooden wheels on because the wheels that we had didn’t kind of work out because it didn’t go any far.
