In our Entrepreneur week we, year 3 are going to be looking at creating a sandwich shop.

To kick start our week we want you to research the British business Greggs.

I think we have all walked down the street and smelt the drifting waft of freshly baked bread, sausage rolls or a steak bake. As you’ve turned, there standing is Greggs. You notice the people inside, the people working inside.

And wonder … how did it all start?

So how did it start? Today i want you to research all about Greggs.

Here are just some ideas to research but we want as much information as possible so we can create the best sandwich shop.

There menu changed with the nation’s taste, they used freshly ground Fairtrade Espresso, they added calories to their menu (this was because people are getting more aware of the calories they are eating) and they also provided free wifi in their shops.

    Greggs marketing is doing really well by making themselves popular.
    Back in the sixties Greggs of Gosforth started giving free ‘pie n peas supper’ for older residents in Gateshead. This was a good idea to attract customers.
    Now they have an annual Children’s Cancer Run and has raised over £30m for Cancer Research. Each year, with support from their 87 partners, they provide six million free wholesome breakfasts to primary school children with our Breakfast Club programme.

    With over 1,950 Greggs in the UK, Greggs is still pay attention to the important things. Like serving food that’s free of the nasty stuff, they don’t use artificial colours, flavours, added trans fats or Monosodium glutamate.

    Greggs has 23,000 staff and has been named one of the happiest places to work. They make sure their customers have a great experience

    Another marketing idea is that Greggs has launched a digital rewards club, where you can earn free and exclusive tasty treats.
