4 Blue’s MUSIC WEEK!
Bobby McFerrin
What a great end to the half term! Year 4 Blue have been working really hard at home towards completing their very own musical performance of ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ by Bobby McFerrin. First of all, we crafted a musical instrument at home using junk and other materials. We then used our instruments to create an ‘off beat’, which forms the very heart of the distinctive Reggae sound. The children have skilfully contributed the musical notes, singing and whistling to produce their very own version of this upbeat classic song. In addition to creating a song, the children have also made wider curriculum links, exploring the roots of Reggae in History and Geography, and beginning to study the ear and how we hear sound. Art has also played an important role this week, as the children have produced happiness posters for the music video, sketched an observational drawing of the ear and used their Maths skills to create an album cover using a given design brief.
Well done Year 4 Blue on all your hard work this week, and over the last half term, give yourselves a huge pat on the back! Please can you answer and reflect on this week, by answering the questions below.
