4 White Visits Tamworth Castle!

This term, 4W are learning about the Anglo Saxons. We were lucky enough to start this unit with a wow opportunity visiting Tamworth Castle! 4W had the most amazing day learning about Anglo Saxon kingdoms and their way of life. At the start of the trip we had the chance to dress up as thanes and churns and reenact a battle! After this, we went on a self led tour before going on an archeological dig!

    When did the Anglo Saxons start to settle in Britain?
    The Anglo-Saxons settled in Great Britain in about the middle of the 5th century.
    How many kingdoms were there?
    There were 3 main kingdoms.
    Write three things you learned today?
    3 things I learned today were:
    1. There were vases in the Saxon period and when you die they would burn your body and put the bones in the vase along with your special/important belongings eg. photo frames or jeweller
    2. The Anglo Saxons were a group of farmer-warriors
    3. They were made up of Angles, Saxons and Jutes

    Three facts are churl are poor, thanes were rich and to defend they used shields

    3.there were churls and they were the poor.
    Thanes are the rich people.
    The churls defended themselves by using a pitchfork or a spear.
    My favourite part of the trip was the archeologist dig.

    Today I learnt that the Anglo sacsons had very ancient artefact to start war.
    At the end because we got to dig ancient artifacts.

    1) The anglo-saxons started to settle in Britain in 449 AD.
    2) There were 7 kingdoms and Tamworth was in the middle of Mercia.
    3)Three things I learnt today are:
    The kingdom lost when the king died,
    They were aggresive,
    And the Anglo – Saxons became Christians later on.
    4) My favorite part of the trip was when we were acting like anglo-saxons.

    1)they settle the timing of 450
    2)There are 7 different type of castle.
    3) I have learnt today that a lot gets dog down for someone who died with their important things.
    My favourite part was everything because I liked sliding around the place!

    There were thames that were rich. The poor people were called churls. They used shields to defend themselves.
    What is your favourite part of the week?
    My favourite part of the trip was the castle tour.

    A. Anglo Saxons used to have wooden combs.
    B. They also used to have a cross on their helmets because they turned into Christians.
    C. One of the myths was : The dogs were chasing the moon and sun that’s how they thought the sun and moon transitioned (Day and night).
    My favorite part of the trip is when we were pretending to be Archeologists because we were finding artifacts because we got to learn about the things that the Anglo – Saxons used to have.

    Today I learnt that a pot that holds ashes also has the person who died special possessions. They combed their hair with a goats horn. The Saxons would scare their enemies by making a loud chanting noise and bang their swords on their sheild

    1) The angelo saxons settled in britain when it was 449.
    2) There were 7 kingdoms.
    Today I learnt that the angelo saxons invaded britain in 449, they lived there until there king died in battle and they were really aggressive.
    The most favourite part of the trip for me was to pretend to be an angelo saxon.

    I learnt that they don’t have electricity.

    They have a lot of prestion things that mean to them.
