Children return to school Mon 8th April

4R – Thursday 11th June – English – Home Learning

One of the key features of a story with a dilemma is a setting description. So today, you are going to plan a setting description so you can write it on Monday. We are going to use the 5 sense to help us with what to write.

This is the setting we will be describing. Similar to the setting from the story you ordered picture of yesterday.

Bronze: In you homework books, on a piece of paper or even on a computer, make a table like this:

You are now going to fill it in with adjectives, verbs, phrases and thoughts about what you want to write. Here is my example which you must not copy, but you can use to help you think of what to include.

Silver: Please define these words I have included in my example:
* penetrating
* foliage
* canopy
* humid
* unforgiving

Please use a dictionary. If you don’t have one or can’t find one, type the word into Google. For example: define penetrating

Now add these words in phrase to your plan.

Gold: Use one of the fronted adverbials to make a sentence with at least two of the ideas for the senses.
For example: Along the trail, there is thick, squelchy mud covers the floor and thick, jade coloured foliage as far as the eye can see.

Please remember to complete your work between the hours of 9am and 2pm to recieve feedback the same day.
Work can be sent into:

    Looking down on the ground I see can see the damp soggy mud I feel the mud slide from underneath my feet as I walk if I lok closely I can see many long a slimy worms wriggling as the come to the surface.

      We look forward to seeing your Bronze challenge. Bayleigh make sure you are adding punctuation for example, In the hidden depths of the forest, the sun shone brightly making me squint.How could I make this sentence better? Have a look at it again and put the punctuation in the correct places please.
