The Tudors were the Welsh-English dynasty that ruled England and Wales from 1485 to 1603-one of the most exciting times of British history. The reign of Tudor lasted from 1485 to 1603. They ruled for 118 years and, during their reign, they promoted new religious ideas, discovery abroad and colonisation. They are renowned for many things, including Henry VIII and his six daughters, the discovery of America and the plays of William Shakespeare. England arose from the feudal world in the sixteenth century. It was a period of great transition, most notably the dissolution of the Catholic Church in England. Great naval adventures started the great seafaring tradition of England. Life has had a lot of problems. Towns were becoming overcrowded, roads were dusty, and transportation was difficult. Overcrowding triggered fire and disease hazards. In 118 years of Tudor rule, England became richer than ever before. When the land became richer, cities expanded, beautiful houses were constructed, and schools and colleges were set up. Arts and crafts have also flourished. England was the birthplace of great painters, authors and musicians.
