5 Blue – Air resistance experiment

Today, we tested how long it takes for a paper helicopter to reach the ground.  Answer the questions below:-

4.if the paper helicopter was was dropped quicker of a smaller height and a bigger height.
5.if there was wings shaped as a triangle will drop faster.
6. If we did the test again I would change the helicopter bigger because it will drop even more faster.

6.If I did this test again I would change the hights to a far distance to see how fast it will land on the ground.

If you have smaller wings then the helicopter will land quicker, however if your wings are big it will land with a smooth landing.
If you dropped the helicopter from a high spot then the helicopter will take more time to land on the ground but if you drop the helicopter from a low spot then your helicopter will take a less amount of time to land on the ground.

3)the wing size effects the helicopter by if you have a bigger wing more air will catch.
4)if it was dropped at a small height the timer would be low and if it was dropped at a high height the time would be high.
5)If we changed the shape of the wings it may have flew differently.
6)if I could do the test again I would make a small aeroplane and then I would be low

1. The force we are teying to harness is air resistance.
2.My helicopter took 2.5 to 4.0 seconds to reach the ground.
3.the wing size effects the helicopter by if you have a bigger wing more air will catch onto the wing making it have a smooth landing and more air resistence however a shorter wing will make it fall more faster because the air resistence is low meaning the air caught on the wing low making the helicopter fall faster.
4. If you dropped the helicopter from different hights it will effect it by if it has a long flight it will have more time to catch air onto the wings however if you put it at a really low height it won’t be able to catch enough air making it no being able to glide slowly down.
5. I predict if the shape of the wings on the helicopter were to change it will change its flying pattern for example it could go side to side maybe just glide or just go straight down.
6. If I were to do the experiment I’d maybe change the material because it’d be interesting to find out which materials work best for it maybe for example it could be foil or baking paper. Who knows?

2.12 seconds is the amount of time it took for my helicopter to land on the carpet.

If the wings were smaller it would fall quickly if bigger it would be a loner amount of time.

It would not be a fair test because everyone is a different height so it would fall for longer amounts of time.

What would happen if the shape of the wings were changed?

If it had triangle shaped wings it could fall in a different pattern of fall quickly as for it is an shape with some edges unequal.

If you were to do this test again, what would you change and why?

I`d change the shape of the wings because it would be interesting looking at the way it falls.

3)The length of the wing depends on if it shorter, if it’s shorter it could go quicker but if it longer it could go slower.
4)If the paper helicopter was dropped from different heights it would depend because if it was dropped from a lower height it would fall quicker however if it was dropped from a very much higher height it would take less time to fall to the ground .
5)If the wings were smaller the paper plane would fall down quicker because they are shorter.
6)If I were to change this experiment I would change the height it falls from because some people are taller and shorter than other people so I don’t think Luke would have fallen from a small or medium height .

The shape of the wing doesn’t matter, the size matters. For example, if we had a helicopter with a big triangle wing and another one with a small square wing the one with the big wing is going down slower. If he had a helicopter with a big square wing and another one with a small triangle wing the one with the big square wing would go slower.
If you were to do this test again, what would you change and why?
I would get smaller helicopters dropped from a higher distance so, we would see a bigger difference between a small winged helicopter and a large winged one.

4.)If it was dropped from a high place it will fall for a long time but if it was dropped from a low place it will fall for a very short time.

6.)I would change the shape of the wings because it might be better for it to fall why won’t we try.

so for example a paper helicopter had bigger wings and then you fold them to make them smaller your paper helicopter will fly down quickly.

2. It took 2.05 seconds for the paper helicopter to fall on the ground safely.
3. The length of the wings really does effects the time to fall because if the length of the wing is smaller then it would be more quicker. Plus, if you make the whole paper helicopter was small then I would just fall on the floor as Quick as a flash. But if the wings were very long and the whole helicopter was large then it would take at least maximum- 5.34 seconds.
4. If the paper helicopter was dropped from different heights then it won’t be a fair test also, not all people are not the same height from each other.We are different!!
5. Imagine if both of the wings were for example a triangle then it would probably be faster to fall on the floor because some of the sides have a edge that unequal.
6. If I were to do the test again I would change the portion of the paper helicopter to a bigger one because we haven’t tried that yet so maybe really interesting 🧐 of how it goes.
Plus, who knows it might be fit for Luke !!!
