1b)Amir’s shape is a octagon.

1c) It is 900°.

2a)Y=150°

2b)y=36°

2c)y=75°

2d)y=48°

2e)y=62°

2f)y=27°

Challenge

Dora’s polygon sums to 900°.

Tommy’s polygon sums to 720°.

Alex’s polygon sums to 540°.

Well done Abdulwahab :)

Great work Abdulwahab. Please could you go back to 2 e) and have another go?

Bronze:

A=180

B=180

180+180=360

2)Quadrilateral-4-2-180×2-360.

2b)Pentagon-5-3-180×3-540.

2c)Hexagon-6-4-180×4=720.

2d)Heptagon-7-5-180×5=900.

2e)octagon-8-6-180×6=1080

3b)sides=6, triangles=4, 180×4=720.

3c)sides=9, 7 triangles, 180×7=1260.

silver:

nonagon-9-7-1260

decagon-10-8-1440

2b)There are 10 triangles 10 x 180 is 1800.

2c)Hexagon.

2d)Octagon.

2e)Heptagon=720.

Gold:

It is a Hexagon

1b)Its a Octagon

1c)Its a Heptagon and the sum interior is 720.

Thanks Azan, how are you finding angles in shapes so far?

Great work Azan🙌🏻. Can you have a go at question 5 and find the missing angles?

I have done it on paper

Please take a photo and email it to y6upload@broadheath.coventry.sch.uk

Great well done Ayaan. Please send in a photo so we can see your work.

What is a regular polygon?

A polygon is regular when all angles are equal and all sides are equal

Mrs Ahmed’s Math group:

________

What do the interior angles of triangle A add up to?

It adds up to 180°

What do the interior angles of the triangle B add up to?

It adds up to 180°

What is the sum of angle in a quadrilateral?

The sum is 360°

_______

Pentagon – 5 – 3 – 180 × 3 – 540°

__

Hexagon – 6 – 4 – 180 × 4 = 720°

__

Heptagon – 7 – 5 – 180 × 5 = 900°

What do you notice?

That the number of triangles is going in order, and you have to times the number of triangles to 180.

_______________________________

1)

B) Number of sides = 6

Number of triangles = 4

4 × 180 = 720°

The sum of the interior angle of a hexagon is 720°

_____

C) Number of sides = 7

Number of triangles = 5

5 × 180 = 900°

The sum of the interior angles of a heptagon is 900°

____

What do you notice about the number of sides compared to the number of triangles?

I’ve noticed that the number of sides is going in order like 5,6,7 etc..

and the number of triangles is going in order to!

Super organisation, structure and correct answers-Well done!

Thank you, Mrs Ahmed😁

Great work Khadijah. Do you feel confident you understand how to find the interior angles in shapes with a different number of sides?

Yes I feel much more confident with angles and shapes1

These questions seem kind of hard.

Well you haven’t even had a go.

You didn’t try yesterday, you haven’t done your English today either.

You are capable of answering these questions but actually need to read the blogs, watch the videos and then complete the challenge.

Give it your best please Jessica. How are you getting on with the work pack we gave you?

4)Rosie, Amir and Eva are drawing polygons.

a) What polygon has Rosie drawn?

Rosie has drawn a hexagon.

b)What polygon has Amir drawn?

Amir has drawn an octagon.

c)What is the sum of the interior angles of Eva’s polygon?

The sum of interior angles is 900°.

5)Each compound shape is made up of regular polygons.

Work out angle y in each case.

a) 720°÷6=120°

90°+120°=210°

360°-210°=150°

90°+120°+150°=360°

y=150°

b)540°÷5=108°

108°×3=324°

360°-324°=36°

108°+108°+108°+36°=360°

y=36°

c)1080°÷8=135°

135°+60°+90°=285°

360°-285°=75°

135°+60°+90°+75°=360°

y=75°

d)540°÷5=108°

108°-60°=48°

y=48°

e)540°÷5=108°

180°-108°=72°

72°÷2=36°

108°-36°=72°

y=72°

f)540°÷5=108°

1080°÷8=135°

135°-108°=27°

y=27°

Challenge:

Dora- Dora’s shape is a pentagon. The sum of its interior angles are 540°.

Tommy- The shape is a hexagon. The sum of its interior angles are 720°.

Alex- The shape is a pentagon. The sum of its interior angles are 540°.

Yet again, the star blogger.

Hadisa, may I just applaud your ability to

read, listen and try!Really good use of maths skills applied.

I agree Mrs Ahmed. Star blogger🙌🏻🙌🏻 Well done Hadisa.

4a) Hexagon

b) Octagon

c) Heptagon

Challenge:

Dora=900 degrees

Tommy=720 degrees

Alex=540 degrees

Where is the rest of your work?

Please complete question 5.
