6R Magistrates workshop

What an informative session today for Year Six! Today, we learnt about the Magistrates court. We looked at different types of crimes, courts and what you can be convicted for. Some children did some art from the perspective of the courtroom and had a go at sketching the Coat of Arms logo.


Other children got to take part in a mock trial. Here the children took on roles such as: Police officers, defence solicitors, magistrates etc. I must say the children read and took on the drama roles very seriously-Well done Super Six Red!

Challenges:

Define the following words: Justice, guilt & trial.

Identify the different roles of people within a Magistrates setting. Who are they and what do they do?

    Justice means they don’t want to go into prison and they might not be guilty of what they did.
    Guilty mean they know they have done the wrong thing and they tell the truth to the people around them in the court room.
    Trial means they get a sentence for what they have done wrong so they do trials.
    The police= They know what they did so the people in the court know what they did wrong.
    The 3 menostries= they say if they guilty or not guilty.

    Justice:
    The quality of being just; righteousness, equitableness, or moral rightness: to uphold the justice of a cause.

    guilt:
    Guilt is described as a self-conscious for having done something wrong and especially something against the law he admitted his guilt.

    Trial: a formal examination of evidence by a judge, typically before a jury, in order to decide guilt in a case of criminal or civil proceedings.

    Justice means fairness. Guilt means committing a crime or offence.
    Trial means a court case.
    Magistrates = judges
    Usher = give the commands eg all stand and keeps the court in order.
    Prosecutors = public official who is against the defendant.
    Defence solicitor = against the prosecutor and a supporter for defendant.
    Legal advisor = a person who gives legal advise to the magistrates.
    Defendant = a person accused of a crime or offence.
    Witness = someone who saw the crime.
    Victim = a person who is injured or murdered or harmed in a crime.

    Justice- The correct decision which makes peace.
    Guilt- Responsibility of doing something incorrect or wrong.
    Trial- A trial is a hearing in a court case.

    Magistrates- The people who decide who is guilty and discuss about it.
    Prosecutor – A public official who is against the defendant.
    Legal adviser- A person who gives legal advice to the judges
    Defendant – a person accused of a crime could be guilty or innocent
    Defence solicitor- against the prosecutor as well as on the defendants side.
    Witness- Some who saw the crime or was with the defendant.

    Whiteness: is the people who seen what happened or involved
    Prosecutor: is the person who ask questions

    Justice is when you do something good after something has happened.
    Guilt is when someone or many people think you are the one who committed the crime therefore making you guilty.A trial is when someone is put through a test in which you are tested on what you did and who you visited it is mostly used in court.The Magistrates give the decision of who is guilty and who is not guilty and discuss about it they also ask questions to the witnesses, victim and defendant.

    A magistrate’s job is to listen to the information and have no emotion for anyone.

    I had a lot of fun today because we had some visitors called the magistrates teach us about what happenes when you do dangerous things,and they also taught us about the law.

    I have actually really enjoyed that workshop and I have learnt a lot of new things and I have learnt new words.
    I was an reporter and it’s to hard to be reporter but the workshop was really fun. I’ve enjoyed it.

    Justice means the truth about the trial and equal respect. Trial means that if someone has been involved within a crime they will be put in a trial.Guilt means you are the one who is the murderer or broke the laws

    What a delight! The very welcoming ladies made us understand the law and consequences! It was VERYYYYY interesting and enjoyable . The vocabulary I have learnt is : magistrates , prosecutor, witnesses and a defendant. Once again, this was very fun and I am glad that I learnt more about the law.

    Usher: Is a person which gives the paperwork to the magistrates or judge.
    Legal Adviser: Is a person who tells the magistrates what crime has been committed.
    Solicitor: Is someone who gives evidence that the defendant is not guilty.
    Defendant: Someone who has committed a crime.
    Persecuter: somebody who asks questions to the defendant.
    Witness: Is a person who knows what happened or seen what happened.

    I had so much fun with the Magistrates and acting for role / Usher and Learning about what they did in the olden days about what they did to boys and girls for a punshiment.

    I really enjoyed when it was the witness bit and the others some people was thinking that Sam little was guilty but he was not guilty

    Magistrates are judges who identify justice to place it in a trial or case. They are aisstsed by other ranks and have 2 other magistrates to work with so they can make 2 over 1 decisions.
