3Red Spring 1 Portfolio 😍

In this blog, we will be showcasing best work the children have completed in different subjects.

Well done to the children who have produced these fantastic pieces of work during the half term.

Greatest Mathematicians

This half term Year 3 have been focusing on multiplication and division .Children have been learning to multiply and divide a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number. We looked at the value of money and used our previous addition and subtraction skills to solve money problems, giving correct change in pounds and pence. Year 3 were also amazing at solving problems from bar charts, pictograms and tables.

English Superstars

This term Year 3 have been looking at Myths and Legend. Children compared similarities and differences between Greek and Roman myths. Year 3 used their imagination to create there own mythical beast, who later on in the unit, they had to described. The children went on to use there inference skills to sequence a myth and to plan a myth of there own. They focused on using multi clause sentences, a range of sentences openers and punctuating direct speech. Year 3 also had a looked at poetry and looked at how they are presented. Year had a great time writing there own Haiku poems.

Topic & Science Portfolio.

This half term in Topic, we have been looking into the Romans. Using chronology skills like using a time line, we have tackled tricky concepts like BC/AD. We’ve also learnt how and why the Romans came to Britain as well as what the Romans did for fun (Anyone fancy a gladiator fight?) and what life was like for a soldier.

In science, we have been learning about the weird and wonderful with Amazing Bodies. Did you know that the human skeleton has over 206 bones and over 600 muscles? We’ve learnt some great scientific vocabulary like vertebrate and invertebrate and have even learnt how to work scientifically by planning and carrying out our own investigations. We even used our maths skills to make some snazzy bar charts which definitely makes us real scientists.
