Hi Year 6,
I hope you are enjoying the learning in Year 6. Yes its hard but it is there to challenge you and prepare you for secondary school.
We have started the term looking at different mysteries in Literacy, large numbers in Maths, The Black Death in Topic and classifying in Science.
1 Your first mission is to tell me what are the features of a mystery story and the purpose. I want you to have a look at this picture below and write me an opening remembering what you have learned?
2 In Maths we have been looking at 8 and 9 digit numbers. Can you order these numbers starting from the smallest to the largest? Then I would like you to choose 2 numbers and see if you multiply them?
1,924,681,101 999,856,632 936,714,543 937,918,642 965,710,106 932,547,909 918,675,432
3 In Topic we have been looking at The Black Death so lets see how much we can remember
a What was the Black Death?
b Where do historians think that the Black Death started?
c What did people do when the disease started to kill people?
d What is the Black Death called today?
4 In Science we have been classifying plants and animals.
a Can you name 2 vertebrates that live on land and water?
b Is an Arachnid a vertebrate or invertebrate?
c Annelids have bodies that are divided into segments. What are they?
And finally in Year 6 White our learning journey is based around the game called Cluedo. Each week I will give you clues and see if you can solve the mystery. There will be a small prize each week for the first person that tells me. This includes you 6 Red.
So clue one, These are colourful and have lots of words in them. They open the imagination and you can gain so much knowledge from them. They are hard and soft. Where in the classroom would you find them?
There is a lot of work here for you but we are challenging you year 6. I will be checking and i want you all to have a go.
