Amazonian Rainforest

Year 4 you have been learning about the amazing Amazon rainforest located in Brazil!

Earlier this week, you were asked to research facts about animals and plants in the Amazon.
Some of you had the chance to present your findings, using the green room.

How are animals and plants found in Brazil different to animals and plants in England? Explain why?

(Use your facts to help you compare the differences between plants and animals)

  1. The Amazon tapir is a the largest animal in the world in the Amazon . It likes to be near the river and in the river he has a lie down ,he have a bath and he drinks it . What do you know about the Amazon tapir ?

  2. The wildlife of Brazil comprises all naturally occurring animals, fungi and plants in this South American country. Home to 60% of the Amazon Rainforest, which accounts for approximately one-tenth of all species in the world, Brazil is considered to have the greatest biodiversity of any country on the planet. It has the most known species of plants (55,000), freshwater fish (3000) and mammals (over 689). It also ranks third on the list of countries with the most number of bird species (1832) and second with the most reptile species (744). The number of fungal species is unknown, but is huge. Approximately two-thirds of all species worldwide are found in tropical areas, often coinciding with developing countries such as Brazil. Brazil is second only to Indonesia as the country with the most endemic species.England is different to Brazil because England has a cold culture.

  3. Amazon tapir
The Amazon tapir is known as the largest tapir in the world.it ways 150 and 60 pounds. It has a thick neck and a stumpy tale.It has a trunk to help lift food.it has a fringe down its neck and it lives in Brazil.and it comes out at night.

    Coffee plant
They are found in mountains.it takes at least 6 to 8 years to fully grow.it can grow up to 3 feet tall

  4. In england the animal such as lion, snakes, zebra, tiger, cats, dogs. In Brazil they have animals such as hippo giffe, crocadle,Brazil snakes.some of the plants call rubber tree and natural rubber tree also called India rubber tree of caoutchouc as initially produced consists of polmers of the organic compound isoprene with minor impurities of other organic compounds plus water.Forms of polyisoprene.

  5. The difference between the animals in England and Brazil is animals from Brazil can live in the brilliant heat from the Amazon Rainforest but animals from England cannot resist the incredible heat and are not specially adapted for the heat, the animals of England would dehydrated. The animals from the Amazon Rainforest would die from the freezing cold because they are not as well adapted to live in England plus, animals from England are mostly used as pets. The Amazon Rainforest has more animals and wildlife with nature than England.

In England plants have been well adapted and suffer cold and not that much water too. However;the Dandelions in the Amazon Rainforest can grow easily because the balance of water and sun is equal. The soil is always moist because it always rains, and stores nutrients in the soil to use later. The plants in the Amazon rainforest can cope with more intense heat than that found in the Amazon Rainforest.

  6. The Difference between animals and plants is that animals move around to hunt down prey or travel to far distances for fruit, animals also have complicated insides equipping:Heart, veins, blood and liver ect ect;but on the other hand plants do not have legs to move with instead they have roots but cannot move with them the roots are only acting as a mouth.Plants have primary body parts such as:stem, roots, leaves, petals and the ovary.

    • Interesting comment Bilal BUT the question isn’t asking you to compare the difference between plants and living animals.

The task is to compare ‘animals and plants’ in BRAZIL with ‘animals and plants’ in ENGLAND.

Thinking about climate, landscape, population. How are plants different in Brazil compared to plants in England as well as how are animals such as tigers, toucan birds etc different to animals found in England such as pigeons, garden snakes, toads, pet cats and dogs.

Please make sure you read and understand the question.
