After a long wait the boys football team finally managed to play their Quarter final match away at Grange Farm Primary School. The Boys picked for the squad were, Moman, Nadal, Sami, Pasoon, Theo, Abdi, Yamen, Osman, Kieren, Kaiden & Umarr.
The game started off very nervously with Grange Farm having two good chances in the first few minutes but luck was on our side. Once we got over our nerves the boys started to pass the ball really well using the width of the pitch to their advantage. Umarr pounced on a loose ball in the area to make it 1-0 and doubled it shortly after with a rocket from 15 yards into the top corner.Β
The second half saw the boys start to fatigue but Kieren Spicer leaped highest to reach Yamen’s cross to head in the roof of the net to make it 3-0. The final few minutes were very nerve racking with Grange Farm having a penalty after Abdi fouled in the area. Moman stood up tall and saved the penalty with his feet and even got up quick to tip the rebound over the bar with cat like reactions. This even had the Grange Farm parents giving him a standing ovation. A long range effort in the last minute gave them a consolation goal but Broad Heath now go through to the Semi Final of the Cup with spirits high.
MAN OF THE MATCH – KIEREN SPICER: Work Rate, Determination and brilliant teamwork throughout.Β
