Broad Heath v Ernesford Grange

Broad Heath vs Ernesford Grange

Score 5-1 Broad Heath

Scorers- Junior, Amaan, Ronaldo(2), o.g

Broad Heath’s football team had been training hard for the past 5 weeks and were eager to show everyone what they could deliver.

We had a few changes to the squad from last years group with Ayub standing in goal after showing some good performances in training. The ever prescent Rayne and Humayan kept their partnership in defence with Ibrahim, Ronaldo and Junior playing in midfield and Amaan playing as a lone striker hoping to follow in the footsteps of last years goal scorer Abdul. A first appearance for Arjun and Devontay were on the subs list for the team.

Broad Heath started off well winning possession and setting up an early goal attack. Ernesford Grange were a good passing team and Broad Heath had to be patient in winning possession back. Ronaldo put in some very good tackles winning possession and setting up Broad Heath’s attacks whilst Ibrahim and Junior used their skill and pace to attack players down the line.

Amaan had some great chances through the game which if he had been more clinical in front of goal could have had himself a goal fest. Ronaldo played a very strong game and stuck to his position well making it a 1v1 battle with Ernesford Grange’s opposite number. Goals came early on for Broad Heath with some great team play passing the ball around leading to a great goal by Ronaldo who soon made it two with a fired shot past the Ernesford Grange goal keeper.

Amaan showed good pace when running at players and was rewarded with a good goal making the score line 3-0 to Broad Heath. Ibrahim’s deliveries from corners were second to none delivering into great goal scoring areas fotunately for Broad Heath leading to an own goal being scored from Ernesford Grange. Goal 5 came shortly after with another good delivery from Ibrahim finding Junior at the front post hitting the back of the net.

Ernesford Grange kept on putting the pressure on our defence but Rayne and Humayan made it hard work to get through, winning headers, tackles and clearing the ball away from any danger.

A first appearance for Arjun this year replacing Junior from wide left who showed how well he has been playing in training again being more clinical in front of goal could have had a goal himself.

Devontay came on late on replacing Humayan at the back and made a few good tackles stopping Ernesford grange from scoring. Unfortunately a lapse in concentration meant that Ernesford Grange clawed a goal back late on into the game which was a shame for the boys who were disappointed in conceding. Ayub had very little to do through the game but played with good confidence and did well in what he had to do.

Broad Heath showed what a very good team they are becoming playing with lots of energy and confidence also showing good team play working hard for each other and celebrating after their goals scored.

Man of the match for Broad Heath was Ronaldo who didn’t stop for the entire game and showing how much improvement he has made in a year.
