Q6

we know that it is 2:7 and he wants 56 triangles so you have to do 7 time 8 which equals 56 so you have to do 2 times 8 to get to 16 so your answer is 16:56

he used 16 triangles

Q6:
In this question there is 2 triangles and 7 quarter circles so if there is 56 quarter circles you will need to know that this is a ratio question. So you will need to do 7 times 8 = 56 and then you will need to do 2 times 8= 16. So the ratio will be 16:56 which is the answer. By, Ayub Khan☺️

I know that for every 10 people who want to go to the safari park 3 want to go to the zoo. I also know that 130 people voted to go to the safari park. Now you divide 130 by 10 which equals 13.To find out how many people wanted to go to the zoo you have to times 13 by 3 which is 39. Now l know that 39 people voted for the zoo.

Q1.
First you have to half the lemonade and divide the lemonade by 6
because you need it for 10 people so once you’ve halved it and divided it by 6 you add the half too the original amount and that would give you 9. Then you add the one that you divided by 6 to make ten. so she would need 2500ml of lemonade

6. Arzu Haydari

For every problem you start with what you know and then work out what you don’t know. For example, we know that for every 10 people who want to go to the safari park 3 people want to go to the zoo.Moreover,130 children voted to go to the safari park.If you want to find out how many children voted to go to the zoo you have to divide 130 by 10.That equals 13 and then you have to times 13 by 3. That equals 39 so 39 children voted to go to the zoo.

Question 1

This question is asking how many millilitres you need for ten people. You have to start with what you know so for 6 people there are 1500ml. Now what you need to do is find how many millilitres is needed for 1 person. To do this you have to do 1500 divide by 6 which gives the answer of 250ml. To finish off the question you need to times 250ml by 10 this equals 2500ml. So the answer for this question is 2500ml.

Q10
we know that the largest is 13.5 which divided by 3 equals 4.5.
4.5+4.5=9. 9+4.5+ 13.5. Now we have to do the same to the 3.2.

3.2+3.2=6.4, 6.4+3.2=9.6.

Question 4

Firstly, you will have two write down the proportion which is

10:3
Or you could write for every 10 people 3 people want to go.One you have done that you will have to do 130 divided by 10 which equals 13.The reason why you have to do this is because there are 130 people and for every 10 people 3 people want to go.Then you will have to do 13 times 3 which = 39. So the answer is 39.

Q8:
First we start with what we know, we know that there is 5 people who preferred milk chocolate and 3 people preferred plain chocolate,5:3. And we also know that 46 people more preferred milk chocolate then plain chocolate. We have to work out how many people are in the survey. We have to share 46 into the two different parts (46/2=23), we will have to now do 23 x 5 and 23 x 3. 23 x 5 = 115 and 23 x 3 = 69.Now we have to check if they have a difference of 46 115-69 = 46. we now need to add the two groups of people together because the question says to work out how many people there altogether in the survey which is: 115+69=184.So it is 184.

10:3
*13 *13
130: 39

first write the ratio

then it says that 130 people voted for safari park so you have to do 10*13=130

then do it to the other side. 3*13=39

Question 1:

Firstly, you need to start with what you know. This is that for 6 people she will use 1500ml of lemonade and she wants to make it for 10 people. Using this information, we now know that we need to work out how much is need for one person. To do this, you can work out that 6 divided by 6 is 1 so you have to do 1500 divided by 6 is 250. You can use ratio by turning it into 1:250. This represents 1 as how many people and 250 as how many millilitres of lemonade. You can then multiply this ratio by 10 to work it out for 10 people. This wil give you 10:2500 so your answer is 2500ml.

Question 1:

First we have to start with what we know. We know that 1500ml of lemonade can be used for only 6 people. So in order to work out how much would be enough for 10 people we first need to work out how much would be enough for 1 person. 1500ml divided by 6 equals 250ml which is enough for 1 person. then you multiply this by 10 which gives you enough lemonade for 10 people. the answer is 2500ml for 10 people.

Next you have to work out how much people can drink with 2 litre of orange juice. so 2000ml divided by 750ml equals 2.66666666….. so you have to round it to the nearest tenth is 2.7

Question 2
First you have to start with what you know. I know that the ratio given is 2:5. We have to work out how many turns wheel B will do if wheel A turns 150 times. First we have to divide 150 by 2 which is 75. Now we have to times 5 by 75 because the answer is 75. 5 times 75 is 375. So now the ratio is 150:375.

The second part of the question is asking us that if wheel B turned 90 times how many times would wheel A turn? So we stick with the current ratio which is 2:5 but we need to find out how many turns wheel A turns. So we need to divide 90 by 5 which is 18. Now we need to times 18 by 2 which is 36 So now the ratio is 36:90.
I hope you like my post!!

Q6:

With every question including with this one you need to start of with what you know. You know that he uses 2 triangles and 7 quarter circles so if he has 56 quarter circles you need to divide that by 2 so it gives you the answer. So the answer is 27.

17. Hamzah Khan

First of all,we start with what we know.We know that for every 5 people who prefer milk chocolate, there are 3 people who prefer plain chocolate. This can be written as 5:3.It is asking us to find how many people are in the survey when there are 46 more people who prefer milk to plain chocolate.

The ratio 5:3 (milk:plain) shows us that there are 2 parts more people who prefer milk to plain.
Since there are 46 more people, then those 2 parts = 46 people.
giving us 1 part = 23 people.
46 divided by 2 is 23.(2 parts divided by 2 equals 1 part.)
So now you find out what 5×23 and 3×23 is. 5 x 3 is 115 and 3 x 23 is 69.
The question asks you how many people were in the survey ALTOGETHER.So you have to do 115+69.
115+69=184.
There are 184 people who participated in this survey.

Question 4:

First you need to start with what you know and underline the important information. Then you will need to understand the question and then you will know that for every 10 who want to visit the safari park 3 people want to go to the zoo and 130 children voted to go to the safari park the ration is 10:3

After that you will know that we have to figure out the rest of the problem for our selves in our head so 130 divided by 10 equals 13. Now you need to find out how many people voted for the zoo which is what the question is asking we have to times 13 by 3 which equals 39.The answer is 39!

Q2.
First of all, we start with what we know. So we know that for every 2 turns wheel A makes, wheel B makes 5 turns. Therfore, this would be written in the ratio as 2:5.

Next, in order to work out how many turns wheel B makes if wheel A makes 150 turns, we must divide the number 150 by 2 which gives us 75. This shows us that the number of turns for wheel A made was multiplied by 75 to give us 150 full rotations. Consequently, the same must happen to wheel B; 5 × 75 = 375. Thus, wheel B makes 375 full rotations when A makes 150. This would be written in the ratio as 150:375.

We could apply this knowledge to the 2nd part of the question.
–> We know that wheel B has made 90 rotations. Then we divided 90 by 5 which gives us 18. This means the number of turns for wheel B was multiplied by 18 and the same must happen to wheel A. Hence, 2 × 18 = 36 full rotations.

This is very clear. Please can the rest of the calculators choose a different question

• Ojasvi Nag

Thank you Mr McCabe! :P

22. Aaisha Raja

I chose question 2:
The first part of the question is that the ratio is 2:5. It says if there is A=150. 150/2=7 so 5×75=325. The second part of the question is if B is 90 what would A be. 90/5=18 so then you do 18×2 and that is 36.

• Ojasvi Nag

Good working out Aaisha! ;b
