In 2019, Coventry was the European City of Sport. There was a phenomenal £100m investment in sporting facilities across the city. The legacy continues today and the people of Coventry are able to enjoy many sporting activities thanks to this. As we all know, regular exercise is of paramount importance for mental and physical wellbeing.

There are various sports here in Coventry however, compared to all others,football and rugby are the most popular sport played . This also relates to the fact that the Wasp play in Ricoh Arena so this isn’t much of a surprise. Other of these sports are healthy for you.
Football helps to improve your speed, agility, strength, hand-eye coordination and overall cardiovascular endurance.
Rugby is more beneficial to us kids to help us with our flexibility and it can even positively effect our mentality by storing different tactics and skills .

The Coventry bears are a semi professional rugby team league club based in Coventry, England, formed In 1998.
Their major achievements include winning the Football:
In 1883 following a general meeting of the singer factory
gentlemen’s club, they adapted there currency name in 1898 joining the football league in 1919.
They won their major trophy in 1987 when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 to win the FA cup.
They are one of the 5 clubs to have won both the FA cup and the FA cup youth cup in the same season. They have also reached two football league semi finals national league 3 title in 2004.
Hockey:
Coventry blaze are an ice hockey team in Coventry England. They currently compete in the elite ice hockey league and there home games are based in the sky dome.
The club was founded in 1965 as the Solihull Barons and renamed Solihull blaze in 1996.

Bill Adcock- William Arthur Adcocks is a British former long-distance runner who competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics.
Kare Adenegan – Kare Adenegan is a British wheelchair athlete specialising in sprint distances in the T34 classification. She was classified as a disability athlete in 2013. Competing for Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, at the age of 15, she won a silver medal and two bronze medals.
Norman Aldridge – Norman Aldridge (23 February 1921 – 14 January 2007) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for West Bromwich Albion and Northampton Town as a full-back.
