On Tuesday 7th March a group of students from Year 5 and 6 went to represent Broad Heath in the Coventry Rowing Championships, The students have been practicing for many months, and have put a lot of practice and effort into improving their scores over 1 minute 30 seconds, showing their Broad Heath values of Teamwork, rescilience and tenacity along the way.
Here are the results;
Girls;
The Broad Heath girls came 1st with a fantastic score of 2389 which was a whole 167 more than the next best team. The also achieved some individual success, with Sadeen being the fastest girl in the city, scoring 386, as well as Kaila achieving the 2nd best score in the city with 377., and Dumni 5 fastest in the city with a score of 359. Well done to those 3 girls, Saee our 4th rower in the team with a score of 317 and Inaaya for her work as support rower.
Boys;
The boys was a lot closer than the girls competition with the winning margine only being 19 meters. However, I am delighted to let them know that they too can call themselves city champions, getting the best score on the day out of the boys, which was 2279. As well as team score, the Zaeem also picked up a medal for the joint fasted boy with a score of 363. Well done to the other rowers, Aayan (334), Jamaal (334) and Yaseen (332), as well as the support and reserve rowers Lawy and Ismael.
This was a fantastic achievement, and the children will now go on to represent Coventry West in the county finals on Tuesday March 21st. This will take part in the morning, and students will need to be at school ON TIME as we will be leaving at 8:50.
Well done to the group, one more week of hard work before you can enjoy yourselves in the final!
