Children return to school Mon 8th April

As part of our PSHE learning this half term, we are working collaboratively, as a year group of many different beliefs and faiths, to come together to give back to our community. We are working on becoming super British citizens and implementing the values of mutual respect and tolerance. We will be holding a sponsored Dance on Wednesday 23rd May 2023.

Each child is looking to be sponsored by adults in their community. Half of the money raised will go to a charity of the children’s choice. This will be a great opportunity to be reflective and considerate of others, whilst also learning to be proactive and organised whilst handling money. A brief outline of each charity is provided below. The other half will be used to help fund end of year events in Year 6.Please read before completing the voting poll.

Young Homeless

Following research undertaken by Centrepoint into youth homelessness in Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth Doorway became a registered charity in 1997. Originally based in Bedworth with two employees we developed a range of services to advise and support young people aged 16 – 25 who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

In 2012 they revisited our mission statement and aim:

  • Our mission is to give homeless young people a future through advice, accommodation options, support and life skills development.
  • Our aim is to make sure that vulnerable, homeless young people can look forward with optimism, raise their aspirations and improve their quality of life

Mind: Coventry and Warwickshire

We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.

Our local Minds provide help and support directly to those who need it most. There’s a network of around 125 local Minds across England and Wales that offer specialised support and care based on the needs of the communities they support.
