Children return to school Mon 8th April

Fantastic Lights

This week the children in Reception started their new topic ‘Fantastic Lights’ which started off with a bang!

The children began the week by exploring the outdoor environment to find natural materials to build their own mini bonfires and then experienced a real one. They made firework pictures using a range of media and really had fun getting their fingers messy!

As it was also Diwali this week the children role played the diwali story, had fun performing some Indian dancing, making a diwa, mehendi patterns and pretending to be a firework.

Have a look below at what we did this week:

What did you enjoy about this week?

Why is bonfire night celebrated by people?

Can you name some of the characters from the Diwali story?

What do you celebrate at home?  Can you tell us something about it?

Make a rocket using different art media?

Another super week of learning reception red! Collecting the leaves and twigs for the bonfire was fun and I was really impressed with everyone’s firework pictures this week. So keep up the good work and continue to gain.😀

I liked the bonfire and I enjoyed watching it.

Bonfire night is celebrated to remember the safety of the king and parliament from Guy Fawkes plan.

Some of the characters I remember from the Diwali story are Sita and Ramen.

We celebrate Eid where we dress up and eat lots of tasty food.

I will draw a rocket in my homework book using different shapes and I will also do this using my building blocks at home.
