Fertilising in 6 White

In Year 6 this half term the children will learning about ‘The Nature Library’ where they will be investigating the affect of fertilisers and how they affect the growth of plants. The children carried out an experiment where they planted radish seeds with a Fertiliser and without.

They worked in groups and came up with solutions of how evaluate their findings which will be recorded weekly over he next 4 weeks.

What do you predict will happen over the next few weeks?

How will the radish seeds affect the germination of the growth, appearance and taste of your radishes?

What does it mean by Photosynthesis

I think the next few weeks the one with the less fertilisers will grow the most

the least fertilisers will grow the most because it doesn’t have too much fertilisers and it makes it faster to grow and if you have too much then while its growing over the weeks and when it finally grows i think they will be some fertilisers under the plant/flowet

I think that over the next few weeks the pot with the most fertilisers will grow the least and the one with 0 fertilisers would grow the most.

I think that over the next few weeks the sizes will differentiate as there are different amounts of fertiliser in each one. The process will take longer and the size would be smaller if we didn’t add fertilizer yet there would not be chemicals in the Radishes. If we added fertilizer there would be chemicals in the radishes yet the process would be completed in a shorter span of time.

For a plant to germinate, all it needs is oxygen and water. The environmental factors of the plant would affect the growth, appearance and taste of our radishes as some environments are good for certain types of plants. A radish would need to be in a condition where the plant is absorbing light and oxygen daily. Additionally, different types of seeds react to different types of atmospheres. Some may barely grow in some environments whereas some may. Thus, this will impact on the radish.

Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction created inside a plant that produces food for the plant to stay alive. Carbon dioxide, water and light are all required for photosynthesis.
