Fire Fighters Visit Broad Heath!

Today we were all very excited to hear that fire-fighters from Foleshill Fire Station were booked to come into Broad Heath to give a fire safety talk. We watched a video showing just how quickly fire can spread, we learnt the best place to put smoke detectors and we understood the seriousness of hoax 999 calls. I know we all enjoyed the talk and learnt a lot from it. Can you answer this question Year 4?

What do you have to do to get a smoke detector fitted in your home for free?

  1. I really enjoyed when the firefighters came to are school.I didn’t know we should change batteris for the smoke alarm every one years and check every week.

  2. I really enjoyed when the firefighters came to our school and teaches us new stuff. One thing I have learnt is when your on fire Stop,Drop,Roll. You should keep smoke alarms in hallways and corridors. And they should be downstairs and up stairs.

  3. I enjoyed that day because they teached some things which I didn’t know but now I know. Also I enjoyed learning about hoax calls.Hoax are fake calls because in this place there is no fire but they are doing is for fun.tRhe firefighters number for UK is 999,for Europe it is 112 and the American firefighter number is 991.The most common place to put a smoke alarm is the staircase and the Middle upstairs room.If the smoke alarm was in the kitchen and it was on the right of the house but there was a fire on the left bedroom it would take a long time to the smoke alarm to detect the fire.It was a very fun day!
