On Tuesday the 6th of March, Broad Heath travelled to Frederick Bird Primary to play in the 2nd round of the Ben Whelan cup. The following players took part:
Moman (GK), Kieren (CD), Theo (RWB), Pasoon (LWB), Kaiden D (CM), Umarr (CM), Osman (CF) Suleman (SUB).
The pitch wasn’t great due to the bad weather last week and we soon realised we couldn’t dribble the ball too much as the ball was getting stuck in the mud. Our passing game was brilliant and we got off to a flying start when Umarr scored in the first half, although it should have been more after we hit the post twice and the Goal Keeper pulled off 3 one on one saves.
The 2nd half started off even better when Osman managed to score two quick goals to grab a 3-0 lead and we looked comfortable. However, once we took our foot off the gas and began to become too arrogant, the Freddy Bird players showed plenty of determination to get back into the game. A few mistakes from the Broad Heath defence allowed them to level things up at 3-3.
In the final minute of the game Kaiden D came off the bench to secure the win with a well placed goal to get Broad Heath through to the next round of the cup. Well done boys!!!
Mand Of The Match – PASOON: Disciplined in defence, plenty of strong tackles, got forward to attack when he could and did the simple things really well.
