Sumo originated in Japan, the only country where it is practiced professionally, where it is considered the national sport, now leading into a global sport.

Modern Japanese Cultureis International, adaptive, technology-oriented. It is defined by Western ideologies.

The difference between modern and traditional Japanese culture is that modern Japanese use their body more when played ,however traditional Japanese sport were used for tactics from different sports

Old Japanese sports was largely influenced by Chinese culture. In Japan the value of purity was valued a lot. Modern Japanese sports uses more physical body activities in sports such as baseball, football and rugby which have been adopted by other cultures. Traditional Japanese sport was based more on mental tactics such as sumo, judo and karate.

Our key value to take part in this type of sport was respect and I showed this by bowing to the opponent in every single game.

I think the difference between modern and traditional arts are that modern are less to kill but more to injure ,while the traditional is for killing ,because in those times killing was just an act of self defence. They give the value of respect and make you move your arms ,did you know the samurais had to be strong in the arms to wheeled the katana swiftly and fast on there feet to use it quickly.

In Japan modern day sport they use their body more often when playing for example football or rugby. However when it was traditional they used for tactics for the different sports. Japan played more mentally.

Sumo had originated traditionally from Japan, later on more countries had realised it leading to it becoming a global sport. A difference between modern day and Japanese sports is that Japan had more mental usage. For e.g archery, you would need to use accuracy. Same for fencing, Tactics. Modern day sports mostly use the body like football and rugby. However my conclusion of this day was brilliant. I enjoyed learning all about Japan and their sports. Although, out of all of the sports we played, Sumo was my favourite. Thank you to all the teachers who helped and came up with this together. Enjoy your weekend!
