This term we have been looking at the work of Yoshimoto. He is a graphic artist of Japanese heritage that uses his artwork to depict the tragedies that occur across the world. We have analysed and unpicked the symbolism within his work and adapted his approach to develop our own collaborative pieces linking to our Geography unit: Natural Disasters. This week, we began to grid up; we analysed the composition of his paintings and used pictures of real survivors to create our own art.
Could you tell us (in the comments) what graphic art is, why gridding up is a useful skill in art and one fact that you have learnt about Yoshimoto?
Take a look at what we got up to!
