Mountains

It is great that you are all settling in to Year six and I know we will have a great year. It has been lovely getting to know you over the past few weeks I have learnt a lot about you all.

As you all know Our Topic for this half term is mountains. So far we have learnt how mountains are formed and the different types of mountains.

Can you name the different types of mountain and how they are formed?
Where in the world will you find mountains?

I must say I was really pleased to read Mrs Frankish’s blog about our trip to Dovedale. In the past it has always been a favourite trip for many of the pupils as it allows you to challenge yourselves and gain a great sense of achievement as you conquer Thorpe Cloud.

I am confident you will all love it even if it does tire you out.

Today we have been focusing on mountains around the world as well as looking at four figure grid maps and how to use one.

What have you learnt about 4 figure grid reference?
Can you write the four figure grid reference for some of the places on the legend?
