Mountains

Our Topic this half term is all about Mountains. We have been using different resources to locate famous Mountains around the world and the continents they are in. As part of this we will mountaineering in Derbyshire reaching the summit of Thorpe Cloud. We hope you are looking forward to this great expedition.

  1. The continents are still moving. This means that the Atlantic xontinues to widen while the Pacific is slowly shrinking. In addition, it is predicted that The Mediterranean Sea will eventually close up and that, after another 60 million years, Australia will have moved north as far as the equator!

    The highest mountain in the Himalayas is Mt Everest. Many people have made attempts to climb it but it is thought that Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary were first to climb the top of Mt Everest, which is 29,035 feet long!

    Asia
    Africa
    North America
    South America
    Astralia
    Antarctica
