Mrs Chapman’s Fresh Start Group

In our Fresh Start lessons we have been thinking about the themes of the stories we are reading and the language used to describe characters and settings.  We have also been trying to work out the meanings of more challenging words and using a wider range of vocabulary in our own pieces of writing.

Think about a book or story you are reading at the moment.

1.  What is the theme of the story? e.g  Is it about good winning over bad?   Is it about overcoming fears?  Is it about   never giving up?

2.  Find three tricky words from the story.  Look up their meanings in a dictionary and write three of your own sentences using these words.

3.  Find some sentences to describe the characters and settings in the book you are reading.  Are they good descriptive sentences?  Can you explain why?
