Mrs Diaz’s Week 1-Phonic sessions, OO, U-E, UE sound.

This week in our phonic sessions, we are focusing on the sounds OO, U-E and UE. Firstly we looked at the sounds and talked about the words these sounds would be in. We then went onto read the RWI book, Rex To The Rescue, where we read, comprehended and answered questions. Following on from this we put words into a table based on there sound. To extend on our focused sounds we put the words in to a sentences.

  1. Can you list as many words with the sounds OO, U-E and UE.
  2. Pick 6 words from your list and write a sentence, make sure they are all different sounds!
  • Spot the sound within the word and then write the word in the correct column.
  • Finding the sound within a word and then sorting it in the columns.
  • A child points to the word & the other child reads it.
  • Each child would take turns and read.
