Good Morning Nursery
Today you will be learning about floating and sinking. You will either be required to complete the activity by sending a picture/video to the email address provided or by commenting on the blog.
Here is your morning ‘SHAKE UP and WAKE UP’.
Today you will investigate which objects float or sink. You first job is to go and hunt for the following objects (a pen, lego piece, plastic bottle, squished up ball of paper, blown up balloon, leaf, a spoon, a coin, toy boat, a peg, plastic toy, plastic lid, drinking straw, grass). If you don’t have all of these things, do not worry just use what you have.
Before you start experimenting which objects floats or sinks. Make a prediction (have a guess) as to which objects you think will float or sink. Put the objects into 2 groups floating and sinking. Like the picture below.
Using a bowl or your paddling pool carry out your experiment and find out whether you prediction was right or not.
Which objects float or sank?
Was you prediction right
Were surprised by any of the results?
Take a picture of you carrying out the investigation and a final picture of all the objects that float or sink.
Your challenge for is looking at you hand eye coordination by completing a simple jigsaw puzzle. If you do not have a jigsaw puzzle at home. You can still do the challenge by cutting up a picture into 4 or 6 pieces and then asking your child to put it back together. See below for example.
Please take a picture of your child’s work and send to NurseryUpload@broadheath.coventry.sch.uk
