Peace or Money? Which is more valuable?

Today, as part of our SMSC unit, we have been debating the value of peace and money. We have discussed the personal impact both can have on an individual as well as how both things could affect societies internationally. Let’s continue the discussion on the blog…

Peace is important and valuable because it nurtures the hope of forgiveness, community and reunion with those with whose we share the planet. Money can’t buy you happiness it can buy you things but won’t keep you happy for life…

  2. Zain A.

Having someone following you everyday is better than dying

  3. Peace is the result of a balanced community/country.Peace is important within our society because without it as you can see we would be at risk with wars and arguments in politics. This value is also necessary because of how many lives have ended because a large percentage of people are surrounded within various areas of the world that are not a balanced and fair community.
    Adeena’s opinion
Peace is more important. I can prove this because money would not be beneficial if you lived in a place of conflict and politics that chose bad decisions towards other countries and cities(Possibly states). Also peace is a valuable utility because it doesn’t end lives just like living in an unbalanced community.
    Ali’s opinion
Money. This is because you can buy bunkers for the whole country and nobody will get hurt.

    1. Miss Vega

However, If you were wealthy, you would surely have more power and then be able to effect the outcome of such political decisions?

  4. Rajbir B.

zain chooses money because if your in a poor country you’ll if you have enough money then you can buy something to migrate or you can buy a protected house or even hire loads of bodyguards.

Rajbir, I choose money because, if I’m really rich as a Person I would not show of. Also I would donate half or most of my money to charity. If I was in a conflicted area with that money I’d get something useful and a bunker to keep myself and others safe.

    1. Miss Vega

If you are having to have body guards everywhere you go, can you truly be at peace?

  5. Aisha B.

    Money 💰 or Peace ✌🏻?
I think Money is also valuable because you could use the money you have to give to charities and help the less fortunate. You could buy a company and give jobs to people.
I agree because people that have lost their jobs or houses you could give them a chance to work hard and get money (back on their feet).
If you are in an area full of war you could use the money to use transport so you can flee the area.
This will create peace so you can buy peace with money and not just spending it on yourself but thinking about others too.
You should give people levels like if they are broke broke 10 not that broke with a house 8 pounds.

    1. Miss Vega

But how do you decide how poor someone is? Is this based truly on monetary value? Or do you take assets into account? If this is not done fairly, surely it will cause more conflict?

      1. Armaan M.

1, someone poor means they are poor,2, it won’t cause any conflict

  6. Alexis J.

Peace is more important in our opinion because if your in a country with a huge conflict, and had a huge amount of money, the money would not be any use. One person in our class said you could buy a bunker, and fleeing the country is also a good idea. Although this is true, according to GPI (Global Peace Index) and their results, Iceland,New Zealand,
Denmark,Portugal and Slovenia are the top five peaceful countries, which shows how much countries are still fighting for peace.

    1. Miss Vega

How do we know that these countries are peaceful?

      1. Alexis J.

The GPI judge the peace of countries by three factors:society’s safety and security, international conflict and militarisation (process of security and getting ready for conflict). This years result shows that global peace worsened by 0.07%.

  7. Yahya K.

I believe that peace is far more valuable than money because if there was no peace in the world many wars will commence and people would have no respect to each other. However money can also be used to build peace in the world.

    1. Miss Vega

Do people respect money more than a person though?

      1. Yahya K.

        Of course not. :)
        Some may do..

Go check out yah ya. Com tho see

  8. Hajrah S.

We think peace is more valuable because if you have money you won’t have peace and happiness and money can buy peace but it’s not real peace and it’s like cheating. Wherelse if you have peace you will be happy forever even if there is noise everywhere you will still have peace in your heart and peace is a corresponder of money.

    Safya and Alina
    Peace or money?
    Money 💵
If you have a lot of money u can buy peace by giving (charities, homeless)
U can create peace by :
    Giving
    Receiving
    Helping others
If you have money you could flee the country and buy a home .
Make sure people will not starve or get cold.
We are using a lot of values when doing this.

    1. Miss Vega

However, are you certain the money would actually go to the people that need it? There is a lot of corruption within some charities?

      1. Alina B.

If the money does not go to a good cause (charity)
We will make sure that if it happens again we will change the charities that we donate to or just giving to people on the street.

        1. Miss Vega

However, what if these people you give the money to on the street use it to fund terrible things? What if they are causing violence?

          1. Zaid M.

What if they don’t cause violence.

      2. Armaan M.

Is it even possible to be corruption to charity? It’s helping how is it corrupt?

      3. Armaan M.

Is it even possible to be corruption to charity? It’s helping how is it corrupt? Overall, charity can’t be a bad thing. For example team seas is a charity saving the ocean so the more you donate the better it is, if you have lots of money lots of good things can help nature, fish, and even humans. Any charity can be good, just donate some money and it’ll help at minimal, 1 thing wether trees, humans, nature, or whatever, maybe even save Saturn.

        1. Miss Vega

Yes, but the people within it can ensure that the people in need to not actually recienve the contributed funds…

        Give them a lie detector

    2. Hajrah S.

Yes but it is like not good for you ¿by hajrah

  10. Umaiza T.

I think that money is more valuable than peace as if your not in a peaceful state, you can happily book a flight to a different country and sometimes money does buy happiness. Also money can buy you things that brings you peace.

    By Marwa and Umaiza.

    1. Miss Vega

But surely comes from within, you can be the prettiest person, in the most serene place and still be conflicted?

      1. Umaiza T.

Yeah but you can still buy a private jet and fly away?

        1. Miss Vega

And you think that leads to peace?

    2. Hajrah S.

But it’s like cheating and it won’t be real peace.

      1. Miss Vega

        What is real peace?

      2. Umaiza T.

It would be peace if you fly away

    3. Alexis J.

I disagree this is because if you have a bunch of money and if you are in a huge conflict then there will be no peace at all and there will be a lot of people arguing with you over how it’s not fair that you have so much money.

      1. Miss Vega

If people are arguing, is there peace?

  11. Bolu

I think money because you could fly out a country full of war or you could by peace with that money .
    By Bolu
I think peace is better as it’s would take A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY to buy peace, there’s like 8 billion ppl! Even if it was 1 pound a person that’s 8 bill and if you get a million a person, that’s 8 quadrillion pounds.

    1. Bolu

      2nd but was Armaan

    2. Miss Vega

But could the industries which are harming our environment not just donate this as a way to apologise and contribute to making the world a better place?

      1. Bolu

But you can buy the places and since they are under your command, they can’t fight no more.

        1. Miss Vega

But that then makes you a dictator? Does that equate to peace?

          1. Armaan M.

A dictator is possible to be good, you can make no more countries fight against each other.

          2. Miss Vega

but that never ends well, you need democracy. Everyone needs to feel like an equal? What if people disagree with you?

          3. Armaan M.

A dictator is possible to be good, you can make no more countries fight against each other

    3. Umaiza T.

But how you afford 8 quadrillion pounds???

      1. Armaan M.

If you had the choice between infinite money or world peace , then you obviously can afford 8 quads.

    4. Yahya K.

True but wouldn’t you want to help people with your money not s just flee the places where there is no peace??

    5. Zaid M.

      How do you buy peace….?

  12. Absi P.

I think it’s peace and money because as you can see in the street you see more homeless people so you Could donate you’re money to homeless people or you could buy a house for them with that money and he is going to leave you in peace and live a happy life

    1. Absi P.

    2. Miss Vega

So you would donate all of your money? Would you be peaceful on the poverty line?

      1. Absi P.

Yes I would because I would start a funraiser
