Today, we identified and learnt about the ‘Push and Push Factors’ influencing Victorian family migration. Please watch our videos and answer the questions. Why did people move? What were push and pull factors? Give examples.

    Why did people move?
    People moved because of negative things such as not enough money and jobs or they moved with good things such as moving in with family or meeting friends
    What were push and pull factors?
    Push factors are when people want to move for negative things.
    Pull factors are when people want to move for something positive.
    Migration is when you want to leave because of both.

    A push factor is a positive thing about migrating.
    A pull factor is a negative thing about the countryside.
    People migrated because in the countryside you would get paid less and the conditions were very poor. Another reason would be because you would have to give all of your money to the landlord.
    Migration means when you are moving to another place forever.

Some examples are that Wilf wants to go to the city because he’s tired of having to pay all his money to the landlord and wants to get a new job in the city.
