Reading Gladiators… Half term fun tasks (optional).

Hey Year 2 Gladiators!
Unfortunately, we didn’t have the time to have our 2nd session of Reading Gladiators on Friday, due to having a very busyArt around the world week,’ but don’t worry we will get back to it on Friday 12th -Autumn 2 wk2. In the meantime as requested I have created some ‘RG’ activities for you to do over you half term break if you wish.
Keep coming up with your fantastic predictions of what we think our book is called and what it is about!😔

Task 1: Think back to your prediction, what did you say you thought our book was going to be called and what was going to be about?……What I would like you to do is design a front cover, including your title and write short blurb. I look forward to seeing these.

Task 2: From our last session, you all came up with some fantastic ideas… I have used your words and ideas to create a word search.

Have a go, I have done the first one for you.👍🏻

Task 3: Last week, we discussed why we COULD NOT cross the warning line in school. This week I would like you to have a look for lines in your home, on your travels- on the street, in shops etc that you CAN cross. Again, discuss with your parents/adults….
Why it is there?
How do you know you can cross it?
How do we decide whether we can/can not cross them?

let me know how you got on in the comments below.

Have fun completing these tasks, we will continue when we return to school and finally find out what our book is called and who predicted correctly.
Any work can be sent via the Y2upload email.
Enjoy your week off and remember to keep reading!

    Good Morning
    Task 3.
Here is a example, we can cross a sign when it says on a shop open but we can’t cross if it says closed. My parents predict that the line is there because people might have been silly in the bathroom.
My parents predict that we should cross the line when it’s safe.

My parents predict that we should cross it whether it is safe or not.

I will email my word search soon.

I think the line is there because in shops there can be signs that tell you do not enter or do not cross.
We can cross them sometimes because the sign will say that we can and it keeps us safe.

    1) why is it there?
I think our book is going to be about the do not cross line or about reading Gladiators book about year two as well?
    3) Why is it there? Because maybe of the fire place?
How can you cross it at the shops?
Because it’s for safety and they wear masks in shops but in schools you can’t put a mask on if your not far away from your child.
How do we decide whether we can / can’t cross them?
I know that we can cross the classrooms but not the toilets…

    Why it is there?
The line that I found outside was there because they want people to be safe.
How do you know you can cross it?
I know that I could cross it because there would be a sign.
How do we decide whether we can/can not cross them?
We could decide by looking at the sign.
