Children return to school Mon 8th April

A calculator won’t help you with this but a bar model will! Think about the “reasonableness” of your answer. Bring your work to me on Monday. Good luck!

It’s not right because he says he does not remember correctly when he says that he paid £1.76 so he doesn’t exactly remember the price.

Assuming that the magazine would cost £1.20, each comic would then cost 56p because £1.76 – £1.20 = 0.56
If 56p was the price of one comic, and he bought 4 and one magazine, it would be 0.56 × 4 + £1.20

    0.56 × 4 = 2.24
    So you would do 2.24 + 1.20 = 3.44

But 3.44 isn’t the 4.30 they paid, it’s less, so I think he is wrong and paid more than £1.76
