Reception Home Learning – Maths 07/07/20

Hello superstars! I hope you are ready for some more maths fun!

Today, you will continue your learning on ‘Estimation.’ To remind you, estimating is a little like guessing…a sensible guess that is! It’s important to have a quick look, guess how many you can see, then touch count to check whether your estimate is correct or not.
Remember, when estimating, it does not matter if you are wrong!

Watch the very fun, NumberJacks video below, guess and have fun.
Then, complete as many challenges as you’d like.

    There was three chairs and Jebrin estimated two he was very close. There was ten books and Jebrin estimated seven. There was ten sweets in a jar and Jebrins estimate was correct!

    1. My mum cut green and red apples for me
    My estimate is 8 pieces and the actual number is 7 pieces (Green apple).
    My estimate is 5 pieces and the actual number is 5 pieces ( Red apple).

    2. I estimated 5 bananas in a bunch and the actual number is 6 bananas in the bunch.

    3. I estimated 20 sweets in the box and the actual number is 14 sweets.

    4. I estimated 39 coins on the table and the actual number is 26 coins.

    5. I estimated 30 cards and the actual number is 31 cards.

    Toleen enjoyed this activity, she keeps bringing stuff and estimates the number.

    Mustafa done 4 challanges. He done 2 challanges with lego blocks. and He done other two with grapes in a plate. 1st tower :estimated brick 13 . Mustafa used 15 bricks to make a tower. 2nd tower:Estimated bricks are 9, Mustafa used 10 bricks to make a tower. Grapes: estimated grapes in a plate are 10. There was 12 grapes in a plate . 2: Estimated grapes in a plate are 5. There was 5 grapes in a plate.

    Djs done this work , 1) Dj estimated 17 grapes in bowl , In total there were 14 so he was close. 2) Dj estimated 17 coins on the table , in total there were 18. 3) Dj estimated 8 figures he put on table to play with , In total there were 8 figures.

    There are 6 pencils in my hand. Muhammad estimate was really close because He guessed 5
    There are 7 coins in my hand. Mohammad estimate was closed because he guessed 8.
    There are 18 lines on my page. Mohammads estimate was very close because there was 22 lines.
    There was 10 pens in the pencil case. Mohammads guess was 13.

        I estimated 8 Lego bricks and there was 8.
        I estimated estimated 3 stones and there was 3 stones.
        I estimated there were 9 pieces of banana cut up and there were 10.
        I estimated there were 7 coins and there was 6.

    Ameera used 5 legos to build a tower and her estimate was 9.

    There are 12 grapes my estimate was really close because I put in 11.
    There are 10 cupcakes 🧁 in a packet. My estimate was right because there was 10 cupcakes in a packet.

    There are 15 flowers 💐 flowers in a pot. My estimate was very close because there was 16 flowers.
