# Reception Homework

This Reception have learnt all about what animals come and do not come out of eggs. Penguins come out of eggs.

Literacy:

GreenBlue group: Edd and Eppa told us lots of interesting facts about the African penguin. Now make your own penguin fact book and write 4 different facts about the penguin. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full-stops in your sentences.

If you are really clever can you use your research skills to find different places around the world where penguins can be found. Claim a prize for being a super explorer.

YellowOrange groups: Draw a picture of the penguin and use your phonics knowledge to help you write some words to describe the penguin.

Red group: Draw a picture of a penguin. What words can you use to describe the penguin.

Maths:

GreenBlue group: Write and solve the subtraction sums below. Take a look around your home and see if you can find 10 items. You might be able to find 10 pennies or 10 buttons. Use these as counters to help  you to solve the subtraction sums.

YellowOrange groups: Write and solve the addition sum for each of the questions.

Red Group: Can you solve the picture addition sums below. Write the sum on paper and bring into show me.

A prize will be given to those who complete all of the homework.

Literacy
Penguins are equatic, flightless birds that are highly adapted to life in the water.
Penguins are found almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere, where they
catch their food under water and raise their young on land.In general, penguins closer to the equator eat more fish and penguins closer to Anarctica eat more squid and krill.Penguins can spend up to 75 percent of their lives in the water. They do all their hunting in the water. They catch prey in their beaks and swallow them as they
swim. Some species only leave the water for molting and breeding.Penguins are social birds. Many species feed, swim and nest in groups. They can be found on every continent in the Southern Hemisphere from the Galopagas Island(the Galapagas penguin)located near South America to Antarctica(the emperor penguin).
