Resilience in the city of Coventry

We had a brilliant time exploring the city of Coventry and seeing different forms of art work, architecture and historic stories which represent resilience in our city.

Reflect on what you saw, heard and experienced at the gallery, think about your time in the cathedral and share two ways in which resilience was represented in Coventry.

Going to the gallery was fun because we got to learn more about Coventry and it’s historic locations.I enjoyed learning about the old Cathedral because I learnt something new.One reason Coventry was resilient was even though the cathedral had been bombed the people of Coventry never lost hope and rebuilt a new one.Another reason Coventry is resilient is that Julia Snowdin never gave up.

The walking was easy and we got to see an artist. You bet I enjoyed it.It was big fun and we got to learn at the same time.We got to learn about how resilience is worth it and the life journey of
Julia Snowdin. She taught us that even if you do a job for free and fun it’ll work out in the end.We got to go to both cathedrals(old and new) and learned a lot about the blitz by a very nice guide. And the wonder art exhibition was extraordinary to look.I loved the trip.

Resilience was represented by the cathedral because they never gave up and they rebuild the cathedral again. They also showed resilience by trying to put out the fire with water, sand and a spade.

I experienced at the gallery because the pictures were amazing. We got to meet an artist which her name was Julie, she had an experience what’s it like being an artist. My favourite part of the day was the old cathedral because we saw all of the broken parts that was bombed.

We met an artist Julia Snowden ,who is a resilient woman as she kept on doing her job even though she wasn’t getting paid ,however afterall it was worth it.
One way that shows resilience in Coventry is how the first Coventry Cathedral got bombed and the builders kept on going and built a new Cathedral.

Resilience was shown during the blitz ,when the Cathedral was bombed and also when Lady Godiva rode on a horse naked.

Resilience was represented to Coventry when the two men tried to put out the fire caused by the blitz.
Another recent time is that Coventry and people from different countrys helped rebuild another cathedral.

Coventry showed resilience when the blitz took place and bombed Coventry and the cathedral they never gave up and rebuilt the cathedral.
When we entered the cathedral it was very calming and tranquil and saw the tapestry made of stitches.
We met the artist Julia Snowdin and told us how she persevered even though she done it all free and used her own money to make her art work and eventually became a very famous and successful artist.

My favorite part of the trip was when we went to the new and old cathedral because we learned a lot from that lady when she told us the story of how the cathedral was burned down.
I also enjoyed when we went to the artist Julia Snowdin because she showed her resilience she went from not getting payed to getting payed a lot.

My favourite part was when I went to the new cathedral because it was much more bigger then the old cathedral and learnt more about resilient.

I had a very enjoyable time at the gallery.

I enjoyed walking through the gallery and looking at the different ways the artists expressed their feelings.I also enjoyed listening to Julia Snowdin and the journey of her life with it’s ups and downs.Once we had listened to her we went to explore the layout of the Herbert Art Gallery which would help us later in the week with our computing.I learnt lots of facts during the time that we were exploring the Cathedral and I never knew that two wood pieces fell in the shape of a cross.Coventry has showed resilience in many ways and two of the ways that I think are most significant are Coventry not losing hope after the war and artists for never losing hope that their work would be recognized.

This day was really fun! In the Herbert art gallery, I saw many ‘wonder’ paintings which is a painting that makes you wonder what it could be, or it could be a simple painting like a mushroom that could make you wonder what it could be… In the cathedral, we learned about how the old cathedral was bombed. The bombing was in 1940, by the Germans. But, it was luckily rebuilt and was better than ever! Resilience was shown because when the cathedral was bombed, Coventry didn’t just give up, they bounced back from the situation and they managed to make a beautiful cathedral that we still have today…
