RP Homework – The Shopping Basket

Welcome back RP to what will be the best term ever!

Next week our learning will be based around the book, ‘The Shopping Basket’ by John Burningham. Listen to the story below and attempt to answer the questions please. A special homework sticker and a peg will be awarded to those who complete the homework. 

Literacy:

Green/Blue:

1. Talk to your family about healthy eating and create a healthy shopping list of your favourite foods.  Can you label where you would go to buy the items?

2. Did Steven get all the items that his Mum asked him to buy? What was the reasons for this?

3. What do you think Steven’s mum said to him when he got home? Why?

Yellow/Orange:

1.  What items can you you name in the shopping basket below. Create a shopping list and label each item using your phonics knowledge to help you. 

2. Which 2 items are your favourite? Can you describe what they taste like please?

Red:

Look at the different food items below. Create a shopping list by drawing and using your phonics knowledge to label each of the items.

Maths:

Green/Blue: Find 3 items in your home to measure. Draw and label each item using the correct measurement in cm’s. Which is the longest? Which is the shortest?

Yellow/Orange: Draw a picture of yourself and then find  2 items that are taller and shorter than you. Record these items next to your picture showing which item is taller or shorter than yourself.

Red:  Look at the items on the shopping list below. Draw the items and number how many of each item there is. How many items are there altogether? 

PSED:

Do you think the animals were polite and friendly?  Why was their behaviour wrong?

  1. Healthy foods:
    apples,bananas,mangoes,orenges,fish,pears,grapes,strawberries,berries,melon. You can buy heathy foods from Asda.

    Steven did buy all the things from the supermarket. On the way home he met a bear who took 6 eggs of him and a nasty monkey took 5 bananas. The kangaroo took 4 apples and the horrible goat took 3 orenges that were for the baby. The greedy pig took 2 doughnuts and the elephant took the crisps that were for Stevens tea.

    I think Steven’s mum said “where have you been?”

  2. The following fruits are in the basket
    Strawberries
    Bananas
    Oranges
    Lemons
    Yellow pepper
    Green pepper
    Red pepper
    Bread
    Rolls
    Apple

    My favourite fruits are strawberries And oranges they taste good.

  3. This is a list of healthy food:
    Apple
    Banana
    Strawberry
    Milk
    Orange
    Carrot
    Tomatoes
    I by my healthy food from Sainsberry.

    2. Steven did buy all of the items but they all were missing this is because he gave all the items to the animals when he should of gave it to his mother.
    Maths
    3.The 3 items that I found in my house were
    Cumber which was 27cm
    Banana which was 6cm
    Pare which was 6cm

  4. 1. Healthy food:

    Carrots,
    Milk,
    Tomatoes,
    Bread,
    Peas.
    I buy these items from Tesco.

    2.
    Steven did buy all the items but when he got home, he had some items missing. The reason was that he met different kind of animals and they had asked for it.

    3.
    Steven’s mum might have asked, ” Why did you take a long time?” Because Steven met different animals on the way home.

    2. My favourites in the basket are banana and strawberry. they taste yummy in my mouth and tummy.

    Steven did buy all the items but coming home he gave
    1 egg to the bear
    1 banana to the monkey
    1 apple to the kangaroo
    1 orange to the goat
    1 doughnut to the pig
    1 packet of crisps to the elephant

    stevens mum said Steven where have you been? I only asked for
    6 eggs
    5 bananas
    4 apples
    3 oranged for the baby
    2 doughnuts
    1 packet of crisps

    I found these items at home.
    Cucumber 27cm – Longest
    Banana 17cm
    Potato 9cm – Shortest.

  7. Maths
    There are 5 patatoes, 4 bananas, 3 apples, 2 oranges, 1 donught and there are no more crisps.
    PSED i think the animals are not nice because they ate some of Stevens food. They are greedy.
    Literacey
    In the shopping basket, there are some bananas, oranges, apples and strawberries. My favourite is orange and strawberyy because they are yummy and they are juicy.

  8. My healthy shopping basket list is:
    Brown bread
    Pineapple
    Tomotoes
    Carrots

    You can buy all these items from a supermarket.

    The shopping basket story:

    steven gave away an egg to the bear, a banana to the monkey, an apple to the kangaroo, a orange to a goat, a doughnut to a pig and a packet of crisps to an elephant on his way home from the supermarket.

    When steven got home his mum said what took you so long I only asked for:
    6 eggs
    5 bananas
    4 apples
    3 oranges for the baby
    2 Doughnuts
    1 packets of crisps for stevens tea

    So one of each item from the list was missing and no crisps.

    Maths:
    At home the three items I found are:

    The carrot is 14cm and is the longest item.
    The egg is 5cm.
    The tomatoe is 4cm which is the shortest.

    “5 Potatoes”
    “4 Bananas”
    “3 Apples”
    “2 Oranges”
    “1 Doughnut”
    PSED ” The animals are bad. They don’t have kind hands, they hit. They don’t have a kind mouth”
    “I have kind hands, mouth and feet”
