Children return to school Mon 8th April

RW – What have we been up to this week?

We have had another busy week where the children have learnt lots. This week we started our new topic, ’Journeys’. Please take a look at our fantastic learning and leave a comment to explain your favourite part of the week and why.😊

Understanding of the World- To look at different types of transport.

The children identified different modes of transport and sorted them into land, sea and air transport. They also compared two different types of transport.

PSED – To follow instructions involving several actions.

The children used phonic knowledge to read their instruction. They self selected what they needed from a selection of objects and placed it in the correct place as per their instruction.

Communication & Language – To discuss the story ’You can’t take an Elephant on the Bus’ by Patricia Cleveland-Peck using full sentences.

The children listened attentively and responded to the story with relevant comments using full sentences.

Maths – To practically add more.

The children played again each time adding more cubes to their tower as they rolled the dice. They began to say and write corresponding number sentences.

Expressive Art & Design – To use a variety of art media to create a form of transport

Literacy – To write simple phrases and sentences that can be read by others.

SMSC. – To talk about places which are special to us

SEAL – To create a poster about the things I enjoyed in Reception

Maths – To add more.

“I liked to make a poster to tell the nursery children what they can play on when we leave Reception, but Mrs Langley is going to come to Year 1 sometimes I know! Because I did good work I went to Mrs Frankish and I got a sticker and lollipop.”
