RW – What have we been up to this week?

We have been continuing with our learning about growing and mini-beasts and this week we have learnt all about Spiders!

PSED – To understand the importance of taking care of our world.

The children discussed the importance of looking after creatures and objects in our environments. They specifically spoke about how to look after bugs and insects when on a mini-beast hunt.

UW – To explore the natural world around us making observations and drawing pictures of plants and animals.

The children went on a mini-beast hunt in our outdoor environment. They explored the natural world around us and commented on what they could see.

CL – To talk using full sentences.

We hunted around the garden for Spiders. The children commented on what they know about spiders and looked in all the right places to try to find spiders!

Maths – To begin to understand numbers beyond 10.

The children used different resources to show representations of numbers to 10 and beyond.

SEAL – To understand that there are different communities around the school.

Through circle time the children discussed the word community and shared different school communities.

EAD – To develop fine motor skills.

The children developed their fine motor skills by using a range of art media to create a spiders web.

Writing – To write about a spider.

The children wrote independent sentences about a spider. They used phonetic knowledge when writing and formed recognisable letters.

Maths – To recognise and order numbers beyond 10.

The children matched and ordered numicon and numerals. They are deepening their understanding of numbers to 10 and beyond.

    I like spiders and I liked to make a web for them and the web is the spiders home. I liked to see all the different bugs.
